Is there any device available that can cook popular Indian/Chinese dishes.

Looking for something automatic... A device that has holders where you need to feed standard raw materials and the device just cooks using whats required(choosing the right amount, temperature and duration) based on the dish option selected. Basically functioning as an electronic cook.

Has anyone seen or heard of such a device.

^^If you want to fry anything, unfortunately its not possible. The rest all can be done in a microwave. I do it daily :P.

:P

I want to be able to hit chicken biryani button and it should use the stuff in the placeholders, do whats required and give me biryani...

if I press pulav button it should give me pulav...

Other options should include Butter chicken, Kababs et al :P

Does something like this exist? Shouldnt be tough to contruct... should it....

When there are CNC machines that can cut and carve complex tool paths, y not this...

There is something called as a hotel. just te3ll the waiter what you want, he'll bring it to you. no need of supplying raw materials :P

gee... y dint I think of that :bowarrow:

hmm.. I guess anyone who constructs and markets this at a reasonable price has a fair chance of becoming a millionaire then...

well i wont say bad dream...who might have thought when someone said we will see ppl in the box and we ppl will glue to it....but tv exist now..u never know...but if something comes up do pm me..lolz

lol...magnet... will pm u when I find smthing like it.....

It doesnt need innovation even... Its child's play when you consider todays technology... All that a device like this needs are inbuilt microwave oven, cooking routines and placeholders allocated for rice, salt, masala powders, meat etc...

gosh .. wat next ?

automatic loo , auto office goer ...:rofl:

Its not the same... And oh yes, automatic transporter like in Star trek will be god sent with the kind of traffic we have...but then we dont have that kind of technology, nor will it probably be ever possible... but an automatic cooking device is very useful and well within the realms of current technology... It should be pretty simple...

now now...ya all wants everything automatic? :P .I only had one thing(which was scraped off later!) "automatic" Ice cream maker.that too some 10 yrs back. :P

Stock up on the frozen entrees you get at all decent grocery stores

Microwave for 5 mins and you are all set

From your list:

- Chicken Biryani - Yes

- Pulav - Yes

- Butter chicken - yes

- Kebabs - Depends - not all kebabs are avilable

I have been surviving off these for the last 4 years... Wonder what havoc theuy have played so far with my GI system

You will still have to put have to put in the food inside a microwave oven....BUT you can find a wait to go inside the tv world and go inside star trek and use the food replicators. It makes anything you want...or you will have to wait till someone invents an actual warp drive and alien land on Earth, and another 200-300 years till they make full fledged ships then viola, food replicators.

Get married?

If you're lucky it may work that way!

I know of such a device.

Did you try a traditional Indian girl well versed at cooking? :D Marry her and she will do this for you. (And something else too. :P)

Nice Idea :P , but cost of such a device is also an important factor when you want to take such an idea to market.

Back at college, when we started our M.Tech course, we were given the task to design (on paper) some thing called a "Multi-Projecter" that can project data from any kind of media. It was supposed to be an all-in-one device which can project a transperency like an OHP, film, text on plain white paper, content from a computer disk etc. There were many other requirements that were to be handled by the device automatically. It was a fun exercise for all of us and we began to let our imagination go wild with ideas. At some point, we tried to estimate what its going to cost like if implemeted and our estimates were going into lac's or rather more like crores.

Thats when one of the guys in our batch, a pracitcal thinker proposed an alternative solution. He said he would buy all three devices, put them in a small room and hire a guy to operate them, The room will have a small slot that will act as a input area. All you have to do is insert the media into the input slot, the person inside will see what needs to be done and the end result will that you will get your media projected on the screen. Believe me this worked out to be a cheaper solution even if you intend to use that solution for quite some years.

Anyways, an Automatic cooking system would be nice to have for a bachelor like me. I am myself a Mutton/Veg Biriyani/Pulav loving Andhra guy struck in Chandigarh. Most hotels do not have Biriyani/Pulav or they pass of some sort of abomination as Biriyani. Even other than that, there is very little choice if you are a vegitarian since the entire veg menu is based around paneer in these parts. Mutton dishes are hardly available and only one place provides decent well cooked mutton dishes. Chicken dishes are available easily, but I do not eat chicken and I was told chicken biriyani sold here is also trash anyways.
