Azureus : Java BitTorrent Client - Changelog

Azureus 2.4.0.2 was the version i was using since a few months...naver had any problem with it...alas...new update..this is great
Happy Torrenting...maybe is abt the surway that was conducted a few weeks back abt the users' opinion...:)

download from here..

@systemic...actually there was a option for copying magnet url in previous versions....but a lot of noobs were confused as to what it was ...

so they have made this lil crossroad...all it gives is the same ol' magnet url when u say invite friend...

still azureus rocks..

I have a exe coded to shutdown azureus in 'proper' manner..so u can use it to close azureus when scheduling downloads....automated shutdowns etc..

it would avoid those rechecks .... if anyone wants i can upload it..;)

@super_saiyan.. ya dude pls upload it.. i automate my downloading ... so azureus shuts down and starts without any rechecks..(though most of the time it doesnt anyways :P)... but still .. upload..

^^as everyone already know....if u can spare a few ram...Azureus rules....if u are running a low config system...go with a Utorrent / ny other....;)

but isn't it a bit ridiculous?i mean,45MB doing nothing!

I must agree though thats its not azereus' fault but jawaw.exe's...

Yup.

As it stands now, uTorrent is the overall best.

Azureus with the auto-speed plugin would be the best for users with 1Mbit+ pipes, if not for the shitty Java platform they choose to base it on.

Bitcomet is the worst BT client there can be; Wastes 100+mb for every ~600mb downloaded.
And it won't show up as wasted, you only realize this when you manually add up the amount downloaded, amount remaining and the actual total size of the file.

Liked a few things about this version of Azureus:

1.) Nice link creation to pass to friends --> earlier had to pass the torrent
2.) Liked the interface for showing geo-locations --> I guess some plugin did that earlier.... but I think having it installed automatically seems better.
3.) A lot of new GUI improvements without increaing any memory footprint --> shouldnt be much problem for most people...coz ppl with mem probs may already b using utorrent
4.) Also loved the new "AzSMRC" plugin for remote admin --> thats what I really love about azureus :hap2:
5.) fast searching the options looks like a good idea. Not sure if every1 will appreciate it!

The onething that i hate abt Azureus is that it does preallocation of space.
In BC the space is taken as the files is downloaded not in one go.

Anyone who can help me solve this pre allocation isssue in Azureus

@quad master : actually that method (which u want) only helps in fragmenting of files....still if u want to set that mode..

tools-->options-->files-->(select)incremental file creation...

The advantages of using JAVA for developement was discussed so many times, when Azureus started....and its still one of the things that people havent realized... I think what benefit Java provides, is the rapid developement that Azureus has. How quickly the new features come up, I guess no other BT client can match Azurues in terms of feature-richness. Also the plugins for Azureus are sooo amazing only because Java was used. The sky's the limit in creating the plugins to be used with Azureus. Also remote-controlling the client using Applets or JSP's can be done best using Java. Multi-threading and the interface (using SWT) is also because of the use of Java.

I think we all have choices!! People who dont need all the features may use utorrent. But Java is one of the reasons for Azureus being so useful.

To add to the melting pot, Java 6 or 1.5.6 with its swing towards SWING the graphics are going to be more beautiful.

Yeah...thats true, but then Azurues doesnt use Swing for the interface. It uses SWT which is a different API compared to Swing...
