Gurujis,Pls help! :)

here you go
1. jetway M26 GTM - 3VPAMD + sempron 3000+ = Rs(1300 + 2700)
or
gigabyte 865 GSA mobo + intel celeron D = Rs(2500 +1400)

2. samsung 40GB HDD = Rs1600
3. kingston 256MB DDR2 = 600/-
4. samsung CD ROM = 600/-

Thanks for the advice,guys.

Im just worried as I need a "tried and tested" combination so that its very reliable and i shouldn't worry about overheating, incompatibility or other issues.

AMD Athlon 64 3200 + AM2 = 2100

Gigabyte GA-M61SME-S2 MOBO with N6100video,sound,lan,pcie =2600

256MB DDR2 =600

80GB HDD =1700

15" CRT =3500

Samsung/Intex KBD + MSE=300

DVD ROM drive = 900

Iball Caby with 350 watts PSU =1K

13k apprx.... this is the best config as far as me is concerned.

Settling for 40 gb hdd and sempron might save you few hundred bucks but the rig would be severely underpowered. Newer applications are in constant need of faster hardware and you for sure dont want to upgrade your hardware when for say you upgrade your Tally 9 to tally 11...

regards

Here's what i've got:

AMD Sempron 3000+ AM2= 1100

Asus M2N-MX SE =2800

Transcend 512MB DDR2 667mhz = 1050

80GB HDD = 1700

15" CRT = 3500

Samsung black KBD =200

Logitech black optical mouse = 340

One query:

Mobo manual claims for a 24pin EATX connector plus additionally a 4pin power connector. Im new to this standard.

Do the regular cabinets come with 24 pin + 4pin SMPS outputs or is the motherboard asking for 20+ 4 pins?

You might consider getting a branded desktop if you do not want to worry about tried and tested combinations. HP/HCL seem o have some good offers.

Alternatively, you could consider getting a low end laptop but if you have to key in data frequently and use it for something besides business, a desktop is the way to go.

if you just need it for accounting, you should probably look at a second hand PC. stuff like what Chaos was selling. for 5k, it's really cheap and should do the job.

All current ATX PSUs comes with 4 pin 12v connectors and there are boards which just wont work without this.
But there are stll quite a few PSUs available in the market with 20 Pin power connector so before buying one you must check whether your board wants 20 pin or a 24 pun connector

All current mobos want a 24 pin one but I've seen a 915 with a 24 pin female working flawlessly with a 20 pin power supply ! But cant gurantee that it will work in every scenario

Thats right.Just buy a p3 or a p4 ,256mb,40 or 80gb,onboard vga kind of second hand rig for around 4-6 k and then go for an AMC.....you have peace of mind

Sydras,ashr,spitfire.....I GOT the parts already and have plonked the CPU in the motherboard as well. :)

Ok.....what i dont get is that my mobo has 24 pins EATX PLUS a 4pin(2x2) EATX . Why is that so??

PS:The motherboard is an ASUS M2N-MX SE.

I dnt agree wth that 15" CRT....should have gone with 15" LCD even if its for accounting... for 3k more u get better screen, lower power consumption, easy on the eyes with pleasing looks...Sometimes you have to buy the "good essentials" even if u r gng to get someone else to use it... after all someone is going to spend a lot of time doing your work in front of that screen..but thats just me...

That means your motherboard requires at ATX12V V2.0 compatible power supply which includes a 24 pin main power connector and a 4 pin aux power connector. The 4 pin is used to deliver extra power to the processor.

If your mobo had a 20 pin receiving connector, it would conform to the
ATX12V v1.0 specification.

Check this link below. It gives a decent idea on ATX power supplies.

Thanks,Sydras.

I just noticed that my A8N-E has a similar EATX connection.
Buttt, its running with 20 pins on one connector and the 4pin(2x2) on the other.
And its running fine!
