I have a PC at home which I don't use (used my laptop). I gave it for repairs so that my mother could use it. Found out my Motherboard was faulty, bought a Gigabyte G41.

Now found out that the card (Nvidia 7300LE) was screwed too. It was 5 years old, so understandable. Now I need to buy a new graphic card, a very basic one for general computer use. It'll be used for general browsing, movies (rarely), casual gaming (like Zuma, Plants vs Zombies, Bejeweled etc). The monitor is 17 inches, so it should support 1280x1024 screen resolution at least.

Which is the cheapest and best option for me? Please give a 3-4 options because I'd have to look for it in the local market, don't have time to order online and wait.

Thanks.

I'm guessing your G41 doesn't have the Intel GMA.

You should get a Raedon HD5450 for around ~2k or the older HD 4350 for around 1.7k

Personally I'd pick either of those over the 9400GT. Both cost around the same though and the difference are few.

Okay, just found out from my father that it's this one: GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket 775 - GA-G41MT-S2P (rev. 1.3)

I'm out of station so I can't check the computer for myself (hence the confusion), so I didn't really know whether this will be sufficient for general use. The page says:

Intel GMA X4500

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X4500 support Microsoft DirectX10, Intel® Clear Video Technology, which enable smoother HD playback. The 3D enhancement of GMA X4500 also highly improves the realism and graphics performance for mainstream gaming. Through the support of DVI and HDMI (with HDCP), Intel GMA X4500 brings the ultimate multimedia experience.

So I think this should be sufficient for the before mentioned uses.

^^don't bet on it..the onboard on g41 runs pretty hot hence you may face problems when they are stressed....
