No official announcement though. On a related note, I really hope Rocksteady brings something new to the board if they are planning on a sequel. Arkham City was a boring affair. :|

Arkham World is a ridiculous title. I doubt it would even remotely be contrived as a sequel. It would be better if they shift the game to Gotham City now. Co-op elements would be welcome. They already introduced multiple playable characters in this game, so perhaps the next game could have one of them teaming up. We need Batmobile or other vehicular driving sequences. Grapling and gliding around the city is fun, but come on, we need Batman's cool vehicles. Improvise on boss fights and make them tougher. It would be good if they could experiment with a new game engine as well.

Did this fella paid them for fixing his name with every installment or what..? And it doesnt sounds like good fun even in jest.

Gotham World seems and would have been more appropriate.
 
The sequel to Arkham City is in the works and may be announced shortly, going by the transcript of the Time Warner Q4 results.

And we also have a strong games release this year, which will include the next release in the Batman Arkham franchise. So all in all, we expect Warners to post another very strong year in 2013. And with a little luck, the year should be as good or maybe even a little bit better than 2012.

Yeah I'd prefer a less open-world or sandbox this time. I should have attempted Arkham City first and Uncharted 3 next. I did it the other way round (because the copies arrived that way) and felt Arkham City to be mediocre compared to Arkham Asylum. Towards the conclusion, I just wanted to finish off the game somehow and ended it that way. :(

Sometimes, I used to get lost thanks to the level designs.
 
I hope driving the Batmobile atleast is a feature/mission.
Including the Batwing too will be too much of a goody bag for the studio to pack in i am guessing..?
 
Batman AA and AC were one of the best games I had played last year. Just about good amount of action with decent story. I wont mind Arkham World at all. Though a game setting around Gotham would also be okay.
 
i read somewhere they would be bringing out a prequel leading to the story of arkham asylum. Whatever they do they should do gotham city + batmobiles. That will be treat! Open world i don't mind.
 
I read that there are two games in development. One is prequel that is made by Rocksteady and is expected to release in 2014. The other is a sequel to Arkham city being made by some as yet unknown studio in collaboration with WB and is expected to release at the end of 2013
