I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm having a blast with this game, which is sort of unexpected. I wasn't too keen on any other studio, other than Rocksteady, touching this franchise. Fortunately, Warner Brother Montreal have retained everything good about Arkham City and added a few perks of their own. I am half-way through the main campaign, but the amount of side-activities is enormous. The "wanted" tasks are something I'm currently enjoying. It consists of certain listed criminals and vigilantes, whose tasks need to be completed, before finally facing off with them and having them arrested. I have struck off Mad Hatter, Anarky & Penguins cases. Enigma has the maximum amount of tasks, so it won't be easy.
This is pretty much Arkham City V1.5, which isn't bad at all. I'm largely impressed with the visual quality and the performance. I missed playing Arkham City on the PC, so this is a good change from the sub-30fps console offering. Love the OST as well, it has the same grand scale with that of it's predecessor and the movies. Since we now have 2 different voice actors for Batman & The Joker (Roger "Ezio" Smith & Troy "so many games" Baker), I have a mixed reaction. Roger Craig Smith does a fabulous job as Batman, very close to Conroy's voice. He does sound agressive at times, but otherwise, he nails the voice. Baker's voice as Joker is a bit off, at least what I've heard so far in the game. For me, Hamill will always be the ultimate voice for Joker, hell, he is The Joker.
Might I dare say, I like this much more than I liked Arkham City. I love the variety of boss battles in this game and each of them have a different pattern. Deathstroke's boss fight was quite innovative. It's a shame we still don't get to ride any vehicles (the cut-scene doesn't count). I encountered one bug during my play-through, but a lot of people have been complaining of a host of other issues. Patch is possibly incoming. This game has tactfully blended elements of both Arkham City & Asylum. Like the haunting scare-crow mission from Asylum can be found in the form of Mad Hatters mission. Bruce's childhood halluicnation which was seen in Arkham Asylum, can also been found here. So Bat fans, this is certainly worth a try. Don't go by the reviews.
