Do NiCd batteries work with the Lz8?? I think its just NiMH and those oxyride batteries which would work cause i think thats what the manuals says isn't it?

i understand that. but even if it is normal is certainly not what i could appreciate

Me too. It is clearly a problem of slow flash refresh, cause if I turn flash off the screen blanking is much more tolerable.

Hi everyone and thanks for your advice regarding the batteries. I went back to the dealer and told him that he had given me the wrong type of batteries (NiCd instead of NiMH). He, in turn, called up the distributor and told him the same thing. The distributor promised to rectify the situation and today I have got 2 Kodak NiMH batteries (2100mah) with charger. Seems that neither the dealer nor distributor was aware that LZ8 requires NiMH batteries. Thanks to everyone who offered advice.

Hey guys im looking at the same camera and i dont particularly need low discharge batteries like the sony's or the eneloops. Is there anything available with a higher capacity and/or lower cost in regular batteries?

seen this issue mostly with 2 cell cams. its there in 4 cell cam also but the time is not that much to annoy. External flash sol is the only answer

Ordered an LZ8 too :D Now I am looking for suitable rechargeable batteries.

Cant seem to find kodak high capacity batts with charger for 350, on ebay at least.

Heres what I am looking at:

2X2700mAh sanyo + charger @ 925:

http://cgi.ebay.in/SANYO-2700-ECO-CHARGER-2-X-AA-2700-NiMH-BATTERY_W0QQitemZ370187599986QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_203?hash=item370187599986&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66%3A1|65%3A1|39%3A1|240%3A1318

2X2500mAh @250:

eBay India: Sanyo 2500 ah rechargeable AA battery (item 260380933285 end time 20-Apr-2009 12:48:28 IST)

Any better options/suggestions welcome :)

Get the eneloops they are very good.

1. Eneloops not avl on ebay currently.

2. I think they were only 2000mAh, so less powerful. I would rather take batts of a higher power so I can charge them when ever I want than those which can keep charge but lower power.

Check the Uniross Encore 2700 mah batteries on Ebay. They are priced decently also.

picked up the sanyos I linked to earlier. Almost same price as the Uniross ones, and I have had a bad experience with Uniross before ;)

I believe that the real world performance of the Eneloop is comparable to the 2700mAh NiMH. I cannot remember the exact mechanics behind it but it was something to do with the resistance as a result of the thicker membrane. I personally love Eneloop.

I started this thread and I finally got Encore 2700NiMh batteries from ebay(about a month back)..4 of them for 470 i think...Got camelion charger for 200...all working perfectly fine for me...i took literally 150 photos in 1month(or so) n still have half the battery power remaining...

going to buy one of these with charger

1) Kodak 4 X NiMh AA 2100mAh Kodak Batteries & Chager Set
2) Kodak 4 X NiMh AA 2100mAh Batteries & Chager

has anybody used these...???
any suggestions....??
I have the Kodak 620 with 4x2100 mAh batteries and I use them with my Canon Powershot A75. The batteries are good enough but the charger is quite primitive.
I also have a set of 4x2100 mAh GP batteries marketed by Eveready. That was a better charger but mine blew up after about a year or two.
