battery deep discharged....how to recover it

i have nokia BL-5C battery, it has been deep discharged i think, and no matter how much i charge it, it wont charge itself

is there any way to make it alive?
i heard there was a method to give it a shock of high voltage,

if anyone has encountered this problem before, please help me
