Battlefield 3 is an upcoming installment in the long-running Battlefield video game franchise developed by EA Digital Illusions CE (DICE) and published by Electronic Arts. Battlefield 3 will be developed on the Frostbite 2.0 engine. It has been confirmed that the game is not supported on Windows XP. The game is set to be released in "Fall 2011" with its first trailer unveiled on February 4, 2011.

OMG a lot of titles for Fall 2011 already. Gawd I am going to work overtime to save up for those offs.

they only cancelled the onslaught expansion for BFBC2. Plus bc2 PC gets all vip maps for free. How can you be not happy? :P

-drag your fallen comrades into safety

-mount your weapon on almost any part of the terrain

Great. Hope it is less buggy to BC2, which was pure PITA to run.

Really? I never had much problems with BC2 other than random game crash once a week.

Do not know what it was. But faced immense issues, and researched the net. Was it the Xfire, or the ATI drivers, or the umpteen patches pushed. I clearly remember after the last 1GB patch, it never ever ran. Each time I started, CtD. Just uninstalled it.

But past is past, this time it will good.

Hmm that's quite sad, but this game also uses Frostbite 2, so i can't say things are looking bright for you :(

I mean to say even Battlefield 3 will use the frostbite 2 game engine (minus no DX9 anymore) so i mean to say that if you are facing problems with BC2 (whch also uses Frostbite 2 game engine) you also might face problems in BF3 as both games will utilize the same game engine.

BF3 will also be using a brand new engine, Frostbite 2.0. This will have full support for directx11 and 64-bit processors.

Some more features of Frostbite 2.0 include:

* “Tile-based deferred shading acceleration” via DirectCompute.[4] This is being ported to the PlayStation 3′s SPUs.

* Morphological Anti-Aliasing (MLAA), again implemented with DirectCompute, for bandwidth conservation.[4] MLAA is currently available only to a few PlayStation 3 games such as God of War III and LittleBigPlanet 2. DICE intends to bring this feature to DirectX 11 GPUs.

* Quasi-realtime radiosity.[5]

* Improved environment destruction.[6]
