Beryl puts Vista Aero to shame. A lot of tweaks needed to get it working with Nvidia 8800, but worth the effort.

Just installed new Nvidia Linux Beta driver. If any of you have been getting the black window bug in Beryl with 8800 (I was), I haven't had it since I installed this driver. I was stuck with using AGLX instead of nvida for gl in Beryl, this driver seems to fix that, now using Nvidia gl acceleration.... way better... and so far so good no Black bug yeeeeh...

Open beryl-settings and find the snow plugin. Within the Snow plugin options there is a box where you can add files that you want to use as the "snow". All you have to do is untar those files (to somewhere in your home directory most likely) and then add them like I mentioned above.

Compiz is only for Linux. I doubt there is any way to get it to run in OS X
