yeah creative inspire as suggested by Greenhorn ,if you can stretch your budget a little bit

get Altec Lansing VS4121 which should be around 2.7k.

the difference in SQ will be worth the extra 700 bucks.:).

If you are not audiophile can try iball Tarang (wood) 2.1 speaker, have nice bass and sound and would be around 1.5k.

iball tarang sud be less than 1k on street. had got it around that price abt a three months back. mumbai it is abt 800-900 bucks max. pretty reasonable if you take into factor the price

if possible do audition the VS4121 also along with X-230 before you get it.In my opinion , the VS4121s which are the successors of legendary ATP3(search on TE to know why they are legendary ) are one of the best sounding systems under 3k budget.;)

but ultimately your Ears are the best judge.

the VS4121 have quiet good mids+highs and well controlled bass ..while on other hand the logitech's are know for being more bass heavy ..(boomy:P)

so i would suggest you to audition the speakers before you buy.

To hell with creative Inspire. They suck big time.

Go for Philips MMS430 or Logitech X-230

In that case, the Philips and the logitech suck too, compared to the VS4121. Keep the dude's budget in mind while making recommendations :p

I was expecting the iball tarang to be heavily discounted from the MRP ( as most iball products are) - but at least not here - In fact, one dealer was selling it above MRP

at the 1.2k price point, the altec lansing BXR 1121 makes the most sense - It should sound as good , and last a lot longer too ;)

err the OP initially had a budget of 2k ..and now as he is willing to get the X-230 which is quoted at 2.8k by another member ..wont the VS4121 be a good contender too ?

Ive bought and heard a couple of VS 4121's and the seem to have warm highs and really good mids. the bass is quiet tight..

regarding the X-230, I had heard them at Reliance Digital ..though the satellites were really good (as good as the Altec's ) the woofer seemed to be producing lose open bass. which made the overall sound undesirable for my kind music taste.that's my opinion.

before spending a decent amount like 2.8k it would be best to try out both the speakers .

I got a pair of VS4121 for my parents, but frankly i was disappointed with it. The bass was a problem, it was booming, and i had to keep it at the minimum.

The most amazing 2.1 speakers i have heard (and bought 10 years back) was the one from Cambridge SoundWorks (for 2.5k). Still have it. The clarity and bass is simply breathtaking!

I think SoundWorks was taken over by creative, and currently Inspire seems to be a safe buy.
