Purpose of the headphones will be to listen to music or watch videos(most of the times) , watch movies , and yeah m a hardcore cs gamer  so i need it to be atleast as gud as sennheiser HD-202 for gaming purpose if not better ......

no1 out there :( .... i will probably be buying by coming weekend so plz pour in ur views .. and those who own kave also please give their impressions frm music quality and surround snd frm movies perspective ....

They are very good 5.1 HPs , but lack the bass punch needed for great movie and gaming experience.

for music a surround HP is not needed.

So to sm it up , IF you are OK with bass quantity less than HD202 , you will like them.

err less than HD202 .... in that case i better go for audio technica.. should i buy ath500 for 5.4k or mh-50 for 7.2k as it will be a one time upgrade atleast minimum for a year,, i dont mind it being a open-can or closed can ... as i will be using it at my home only so is payinh 1.8k more for mh-50 wrth it

yeah the ATH-M50 is the way to go.

BUt remember you wont get the surround effect in gaming and Movies,

thus , while playing CS ( or any other FPS ) most of the times you wont be able to determine exactly from where the bullet was shot !

5.1 headphones are for movies and games ( of course those games that support surround sound )

Hi I am an Audio Technica Distributor. So I my reply would be more or less based on their lineup. If you are looking for an impressive product for the price with decent bass. Our recommendation would be ATH-M35, which is a smaller sibling of M50. Very potent and equally impressive. For positional sound we would recommend ATH-AD500. It also has some tight bass up the sleeves.

I'm using the Philips SHP9000 which isn't really lacking in any department though its a bit bright and vocals feel a bit distant when compared to the sound of say the Brainwavz M2. Super comfortable and with detail/instrument separation/soundstage that is far better than any of the iem's I've tried. I don't know how it compares with the Audiotechnica lineup though but I'm sure its still vfm at around 3.5k or less.

Also, initially I was a bit worried about its build quality but a dozen or so falls off the table later I've got to say that it doesn't show any signs of damage which is definitely better than the ADXXX which seems to get bents on its grille when it falls down.

I dont really knw much about philips products all that i have owned is my HT system whic is low end one so cant comment on the brand, but from reviews i have read audio technica products seem to best buy for me now , i read on a review that ad-700 has a wide soundstage where mh-50 has awesome bass , but mh-50 being a dj headphone i doubt will really perform well from the gaming perspective .. whereas ad-700 has gud reviews wrt gaming ... so i guess ad-700 would be the best buy unless roccat kave blow me over when i try them on at my frnds place dis week ... Correct me if am wrong

Will also suggest AD700, do not find it lacking in bass at all, though I use it with Headphone Jack of AL641 which provides amping as well.

As for gaming and movies , Roccat kave's are the best as of now...

The only thing that "some" people dont like about the kave is the weight of the headset....Some say its little on the heavier side....But that's completely personal choice...

Otherwise...it is money well spent !! total value for money ! :)

^ aren't you promoting Koccat Kave? wouldn't that make you biased? just asking :)
Yes , I am promoting Roccat. but the fact is that they are really hot selling...and as far as the reviews goes....as I mentioned...its only Drawback would be its size and weight...some ppl dont like it !

It all comes down to simple question -- do you really want a 5.1 Ch headphone? if yes...then its no brainer -- Roccat Kave it should be.

Else , there are a lot other options you can consider....The AD700 are real good !

If it was for me...I'd choose b/w Ad700 and the Kave's

what about the bass quantity ( i would reject the both cause of the bass quantity )
I have read some strong comments against Kave that its bass is very weak .

Bass is really important in movies and games.

I found the bass of AD700 perfectly adequate for Gaming, movies and even electronic music. Though it could be my source, the X-fi which gives good bass body to whatever I plug in.

But, they still sound amazing even out of my unamped iPhone!

And having some theoretical experience about M-50, practical experience of HD555 & HD580pro, I would say, AD700 suits your choice the best.

Cost around 6.7k from PristineNote

I wudn't say that Kave's lack Bass...m using them...n I enjoy watching a good 5.1 movie or playing games on them....They are not audiophile headsets , true ! but they are good ( best as of now ) for gaming in general !

I haven't used the AD700's...but have used a couple of Sennheisers / all the cans from Steelseries and Razer & Philips....

You should try the AD700 cool_chap. Thats all, nuff said!!

@OP if you want more bass than the AD700, the Grado SR80i fits the bill.

Grado for Gaming and Movies ! :O

OP i suggest you TRY Kave and M50. ( i am not recommending AD700 cause his pririty is gaming and mvies , i which i think Kave is better suited, and i am recommending the M50 cause of its bass )
