Budget : 50-70k!

Re: BestBike For First Timers!

The range of the budget is too large :D

1. Gladiator SS 125cc - 55k(best 125cc bike out there according to bike india and over drive reviews. I own one and i highly recommend it :D

2. Pulsar 135cc LS - 59-60k (Previews looks great. Wait until it hits the market)

3. Yamaha FZ16(150cc) - 74-75k (Killer looks and a great bike)

Re: BestBike For First Timers!

+1 for FZ16. Its a great bike. Even better for starters as it is an exceptionally good handler. Infact it is my first bike too, so i can vouch for its performance. You will always feel in control whenever you ride. Just have a thorough test ride and feel it your self :)

Re: BestBike For First Timers!

Honda unicorn

pros: reliable, best & smoothest engine, good resale, low maintainence

cons: bit out dated

Re: BestBike For First Timers!

Activa, no hassles, get storage space too, and decent mileage.

Dude u taking it wrong.....

I m not against but the fact is yo bikes battery do get bad soon and cost ard 10k+ i guess..last i heard was ard 15k........just was bringing that point anyways soon well find electric cars and soon stuff may get cheaper due to more competition but not right now i guess

Re: BestBike For First Timers!

I'll not suggest FZ-16 for a first time biking. Rather go with new Honda Activa and earn some riding experience with it..and then move on to a 125 cc bike...such Honda Stunner. Jumping directly onto a 160cc bike can be dangerous for u. I prefer safe riding experience for u. Else do as u wish.

Re: BestBike For First Timers!

stick to 150cc segment to maintain a good balance between performance and mileage.

if you are a little more concerned about mileage then Honda Unicorn is your best Bet.

For good pickup, HH Hunk and CBZ-xtreme can be good at that segment... Apache 160cc can be your alternate option if you prefer a little smaller size, but mind you that bike is not so stable at high speed, chances of rear wheel spinning out of the line are greater while breaking suddenly...otherwise unbeaten at that price/cc segment

as for fz-16, it looks great balance between style and performance. But do check about it's maintenance cost and parts availability in your locality, get reviews from people in your locality about the same. mileage should be around 40kmpl.

Stay away from gear-less scooters if you want to enjoy biking :P

mate we are not talking about PC hardware that we change every 2 years...once someone buys a bike it remains with him for atleast 4-6 years...

Re: BestBike For First Timers!

Any bike available in India within the OPs budget is safe\suitable for first timers. It all depends on the attitude with which one takes when on the road, and that is true for newbies and old-timers alike.

@OP: I would suggest you tell us what you are looking for in a bike for us to give you better recommendations. i.e. mileage, comfort, performance, etc.

Re: BestBike For First Timers!
