A friend of mine is looking to buy an android device , preferably motorola but he kinda needs Call Recording feature on his phone, so does he basically has to buy one of the Chinese phones ( or samsung ) is is there a way ?

Also btw, can you install odialer on let's say a non Chinese smartphone could be motorola or even samsung via adb or just using apk to record calls ?

Any other solution if he really likes the newer moto model ?

Just thought I'll ask here, as I myself use vivo so never had a problem with this .

If you want unannounced call recording, you have to get one of the Chinese phones under BBK or a Samsung phone. Even Xiaomi and Nothing come with the Google phone app, so you must deal with the announcement. If you want, there's an option where you can select a beep instead of a voice declaration.

For Xiaomi phones, the global version has its own Phone app, so if you want, you can flash one of the Global ROMs by unlocking the bootloader.

Phone brands that use stock Android, like Motorola, typically come with the stock Google phone app. So if you want unannounced call recording, forget about it.

Xiaomi switched to Google phone app and then back. Now they have their (old) phone app which has this. Check before purchase - device to device dependent I guess

I am using POCO F6 and the native phone app also has AI transcription (from cloud however, not on device) along with silent recording.

That's fine , I kinda know that , I am wondering why can't technically you install bbk dialer on other phones using adb ? My current device is vivo so can't try ..

And yeah u can root those phones for a recorder but I am looking for a non root solution !

You can change the caller announcement to beep sound in settings and the other party wont get to know
On any phone with Google dialer ? Like I said I haven't needed this function as i use vivo so donno ins and outs.

Also, can anyone explain why can't someone install let's say color is or oxygen os dialer on a different device like a normal dialer ? What restrictions stop us from doing that ?

I already have one which has that feature so can't test myself

The app automatically recognizes the hardware and doesn't allow you to download Odialler on a different device other than Oppo or One +
There is a manufacturer code in each device.

can be used in any google dailer just go to settings - call recording - select play audio tune instead of disclaimer
and coloros dialer can be used in other android devices but it is not optimised for non coloros devices
you will face lots of issues

Well, I tried sideloading the app on a Xiaomi phone, but it kept crashing. The app may have some color OS dependencies, or the app has some privileged permissions that don't work on other OSes(most likely this), or some model identifiers restricting the app from being used in other phones.

The only way is to root the device. You can install call recording mods. Or flash a custom ROM with call recording baked in.
Or get a OnePlus phone. I bought a OnePlus phone for this very same reason. Their Color OS version is very close to stock Android.
