Graphic Cards Best card for 6-7k now ?

For AGP at around 7.5K, u'll get a 9800 pro. If its pci-e, get an x700 vanilla if available. Its way better than the 6600 vanilla. However that 9800 will run circles around both the vanilla 6600 and also the x700.

X700 is really hard to find here.

But if you can get it at deascent price then its a good card. Certainly better than vanilla 6600.

9800 pro is available for 7500 at Simple Marketing, Delhi.Person said it was 128mb,256-bit on the phone, never went to see it coz I had already got darky's 6600gt for 8.7k by then so can't confirm that. But its an old design with lots of issues and performance in DOOM III leaves much to be desired.
Also 9800 plain 256mb 128-bit is for 6500.
The 6600 vanilla is quite good.Very overclockable from 300/550 to 400+/650+ is virtually guaranteed.I wouldn't recommend the X700 to anyone, the card is a failure-ATi launched the X800 vanilla exactly bcoz the X700 series took a very heavy beating from the 6600GT.
The vanilla 6600 is faster in DOOM3 than a 9800 pro, btw! And u can overclock it to give aprrox 65-70% of the performance of a 6600Gt.A 6600 at 400/650 will easily take on the vanilla X700(not to be confused with the X700 pro though it won't be too far behind it either.)

i think 6200 is also a good deal if u can OC ..... i have a fren having 6200 .....unlocked all the 8 pipes and OCed it dunno remember the clocks and he scored 32xx on 3dmarks05 ........ that was really good by 6200 standards ...

The 6200 AGP available here is 64-bit NV44a crap.Don't know if PCI-E version is NV43 or not. Also I have not seen plain 6600 AGP in Delhi anywhere,BIG(BBC) said they had only 6600GT in AGP.
BTW,looks like the 9800pros have sold out coz there is no mention of them in this price list I received yesterday:
ATI : Graphic Cards
PCI VGA 8 MB rage LT Pro with TV Output 550.00
PCI VGA 128GL 32mb 1100.00
PCI Radeon 7000 64mb Dual CRT & TV output 2100.00
AGP Radeon 7000 64mb with TV output 1500.00
AGP Radeon 9200 128mb DVI & TV output 2100.00
AGP Radeon 9250 256mb DVI & TV output 3000.00
AGP Radeon 9800 256mb DVI & TV output 6500.00
PCI Xpress X300se 128mb DVI & TV Output 3300.00
PCI Xpress X300se 256mb DVI & TV Output 5000.00

well a stock 6600 vanilla scores about 1900 3DMarks05 . whereas 9800Pro scores 2500+ 3DMarks points . but you will be very disappointed with the product if u buy it . therefore i recommend you to go for 6600GT . however a overclocked 6600 ( from 300/550 to 550/700 ) it gets about 3100+ 3dmarks which thrashes 9800pro . so far i was able to overclock it to 400/600 ( and also 350/665) . it crashes when i set it at 450/650 .

If you start overclocking, then an oc'ed 9800 PRO will again beat an oc'ed 6600..... So, compare oc'ed 6600 to oc'ed 9800pro or stock 6600 to stock 9800 pro.... the end result is the same ---- 9800 pro is better than 6600 vanilla....

Well X700pro was failure compared to 6600GT and thats why X800 vanilla came into picture.
X700 vanilla is still better performer compared to vanilla 6600.
Sure X700 will not perform as good as 6600GT but it easily outperforms 6600 except DOOM3 maybe.
I think HardOcp and beyond 3d had review. Check it out.
But then again i havent seen x700 here at all.
The difference in performance between 6600 and 6600GT is big but price difference is not that big. If you have little extra money then get 6600GT insted or 9800Pro is not bad choice given you can get it below 8K.

Why is nobody talking about the 9800XT ? Not too sure about the card but is the price hike over the 9800 Pro justified ?

Also, if I am not mistaken, you get Hl2 free with a 9800XT...

No u dont right now. It was offered initially with the 9600XT and 9800XT but stopped since hl2 was delayed a lot. Even when i got a 9600xt i did not get the hl2 copy. Dunno abt other places but there are no 9800pro or XTs available in mumbai as of now.

Simple Marketing,NP.Details given on npithub.com.Shop is in Osian Building and there is a big board on the building above the shop.Check with them if they still have the 9800pros.The 9800 256mb 128-bit is a bit suspect though but it should be as good as a 9600XT(The 9800 128-bit a 8-pipe,128-bit card and not the 9800SE).
But seriously 9800 cards have too many issues. And you can even buy an XFX 6600gt on the forum now for 8k!
9800XTs are no longer on the market-no one will buy them coz even in US they sell for $200+ where as a 9800pro sells for $125 and there is almost no performance difference.Anyway on a side note ,the 5950U is finally available for less than $300 and any one thinking of buying a 6800Gt or X800XL should give it serious consideration. :ohyeah:

A 6600GT is better than a 9800 pro in most games. However it'll get thrashed by the 9800 pro in texture intensive games (ut2k4 engine and its derivatives) cos of lack of memory bandwidth. Same is true for stuff like nfs underground 2. A 6600GT stutters at 1024x768@4xAA whereas the 9800 is silky smooth. This is personal experience as I have both the cards. Also you say the 9800 has issues. Could you tell me what issues? I have not had a single issue with it so far. The 9800 doom 3 perfomance has improved drastically since doom 3 launch. The initial drivers gave me around 43fps at 1024, HQ. The same is close to 55fps in 1024x768,HQ now. Stop spreading FUD.

Ah c'mon, everybody supports the card they have...

@Chaos, the 6600GT is DEFINATELY a better card than the 9800 Pro, stop bragging...

Back to the topic, the best card for 7k is the 6600 Vanilla 256MB AGP.
