@ ragzdiablo....

U just told that U want a DSLR in 30K
Nothing about what are ur needs, how much U want to explore photography, later will U upgrading to a Semi pro, which field U would be exploring more, what lenses will be ur needs, and some special features u wish for.........

Then how can U think one could tell which camera is best for U....
Some cameras have higer fps, some have faster focusing, some other has something else good...U can get a all in one camera in Rs 30K....
Thus plz be specific withur needs......

If U r not specific with the photographic field, and need a DSLR just for general photography, and an upgrade from P&S....any of the Canon, Sony or Nikon will be fine for U......1000D, D60,A200 any one could be a choice.......

actually sony has more lens options if you can get the minolta and sigma lenses no ?

talk about the lenses which are readily available in market at present...
If U will be counting Heritage and Vintage lenses the number for sony will surely high.............

Also how active market does Sigma have in india for Sony Lenses....
Availability is a big issue here....

flattered at seeing my pics over here. :-)

wat it comes down to is the photographer's skills.

just read this above post.if u want a camera for casual photography and have NO PLANS to buy lenses later, then u can get a high end p&s cam like the panasonic fz28 and get better pics from it,rather than getting confused with a dslr.

For your information, I have 4 lenses for my camera and the only Sony lens is the kit lens. Here are the prices I paid for them.

I have a 28-105mm f3.5-4.5 - Rs 4500
Minolta 50mm f1.7 - Rs 3000
Minolta 100-200mm f4.5 - 2750
Tamron 70-300mm f4-5.6 - 8000

All the lenses except for the 100-200 lens are easily available in Fort, Mumbai. All those lenses will have AF and built in IS thanks to the Sony Steady shot system.

Can you build a comparative image stabilized system in either Canon or Nikon for the price I paid ???? :)

Sir, U r taking my words in a wrong way.....
I dont mean to say that lenses for sony are not available...
But they have a very shrink market,,,i.e. available only at few places....

U r lucky guy to get some minolta lenses, coz ur in Mumbai...

But what about a guy like me, who is living in a small city, which has quite a small market for DSLRs....
Whenever I go to my dealer, he always has some used lenses for sale either for canon or Nikon mount........
But even he doesn't remember when he got a Sony mount lens for sale....
[he is the biggest dealer in my city...]
Thus for a guy like me, the only option is to get some used lenses from used forums like jjmehta or to get it from USA, which is quite a expensive deal....

Surly the sony has a advantage of IS in it, this cannot be denied...

E3 is in a totally different bracket and would be unfair to compare E3 with D60, 1000D. E620 should be compared with D60, 1000D. E620 has a small grip compared to D60 so I don't know if people would find that comfortable although the folks at dpreview seem to approve ("Instead of holding it in a 'gun grip' style you hook a single finger around the rubberized grip at the front of the camera in the same way you would hold a compact camera. Thankfully the E-620 with kit lens is light enough to be held this way, indeed it is actually quite comfortable.").
Feature wise, the E620 trumps all other competing DSLRs. Its the compatible lens availability which may be an issue. What are the lens options other than the 2 standard zooms? Any fast primes, macro lens, wide angle lens available? Touzeen and Kippu, what lenses do you own?

Completely agree with ur views about E-3 comparison with D60...
But we are not making the complete comparison, but only the comparison of Sensors....Check the posts to see the link for sensor comparison.....

E-620 has a a compact cameras style grip than the gun style DSLR grip...
Since the cam is light there is not enough problem to hold the camera stably....
But what about the stability and ease to hold the grip, when a heavy lens, the larger focal length lens is mounted.........Holding it in this case looks a challenge in itself....

Well to ur question, E-620 has a 4/3 standard lens mount
Thus Range of ZUIKO DIGITAL lenses available is available for it....
Also Sigma lenses for 4/3 mounts is also available,...

^^The grip is something which has to be tried out personally. Even I'm doubtful about a small grip being comfortable for holding a heavy DSLR. About the lenses, what I meant was the availability and price of good compatible lenses in India - Olympus as well as third party.

the lenses i use are the basic kit lenses

14-42mm and 40-150mm

these are the cheapest oly lenses and these itself give unbelievable sharpness and color, think wat the High Grade and Super High Grade lenses will be like.

also i think the reason why nikon and canon have so many lenses is because they have multiple lenses of the same focal range but one will have stabilization, one will be fast etc...

on full frame,i agree the Four Thirds sensor is very small, but HOW BIG OF A SENSOR do u need? U need a full frame only if u plan to cover billboards wit the pics u take, else a ASP-C or 4/3rd sensor is more then enough for net use and enlargement upto 12inches(in my experience)

i dont have an oly with me right now , but i used the 410 for a good six months and totally loved it , sadly it had to go , then i caught hold of a canon for six months , didnot like it not so much , there was something lacking , just cannot put a finger on to it , now i would like to get myself a oly 510 , where is the issue :D

Well Sony had launched A230....

If U r planning for Sony, better to go for Sony A230...A200 is soon going to be discontinued........

^^ A230 is not so great. Its grip is nothing to write home about and the Camera has lesser buttons and no option to select the focus point - i.e. a camera for flaunt value and not so much value for a person wishing to improve his photography skills. The A200 is more than enough for my skills. However the A230 would be a step down and not a step up. :(

the OP has no plans for future lens upgrades....donno y we r talking about DSLRs...

Agree with U that very few buttons placed on the body....
thus it reduces the spontaneous changing of setting.........:@

Grip - Again it is the personal feeling, about how it sets in ur hands.....

But it will be a good buy for the one who want to buy a DSLR but wont be buying any other lens other than the kit lens ..

I hope those people understand the meaning of DSLR - its Digital Single Lens Reflex....Thus changing lens is the biggest profit...
