LG too served me wisely before but was not as rock-solid and sturdy as moserbaer a.k.a liteon.

3 yrs back i bought one for 1.3k & now obviously it must be well within 900bucks or less.

Yes you can send it to Accel Frontline Services like for seagate or better return it to your shopwallah who will then do the needful.

samsung = tray problems.

had one 10 years back got stuck like crazy.
switched to sony.
got a new rig, thot samsung might have improved the desing got a samsung.developed tray problems.
out of stupidity got a new samsung again, and its developed the hereditary problem again

Get LG drives mate, i have got two, one IDE bought 4 years back and another SATA 1.5 years back. Still working OK. BTW LG drives comes with 1 year warranty and RMA and all will be entertained by your dealer.

hmmm. I dont mind going with LG. as i said, what if the dvds i already burnt dont read? I think i'll go for moserbaer. fingers crossed. :D

cause they were burnt on liteon. all dvds burnt on liteon work best on liteon. i had the same problem back when i had the Sony DRU810A. but then i didnt really burn a lot of dvds on it, and the Sony went bust in like 2 months.
people complain that my dvds dont read, show up as blank or just folder structures with no content in it etc. they work fine on the liteon. hence, i was thinking moserbaer.

The thing you have got to do is try out your different friends pc to confirm that your dvds could be read on newer moserbaer drives or not.
Else you will need to backup those disks on a external hard disk and then burn on different discs again.

For drives compatibility issues always burn your media to a common compatible speeds rather than full/max or higher speeds to avoid getting unreadable on different burners/drives.

Eg: Even though todays drives support cd burning @52x its better to burn them @48x so it can be used even on other & old drives hassle free.
