I want to get rid of my daily dvd burning problems .
guyz plz suggest me the best DVD Writer in indian market?
i dont care about brand, SONY ,SAMSUNG, LITEON, LG, etc
Should be reliable for burning DVD and Duel LAYER DVDs with powerful lens for Reading different format of DVDs.
Sometimes my DVDcombo drive works better then MY DVDwriters and That combo drive is older then them but it can make images of those dvds also which shows error when using DVD writers.

PrimeABGB has been pushing HP for some reason. I just bought one, seems nice as such, but haven't used it.

HP is liteon oem

all today dvd drive r al cheapo Chinese re-bags.

only 1 year life.

plextor used to be high quality optical drive manufacturer but now it stops making their own drives.Buy a secondhand one if u can, manufactured before 2007.

i'll suggest LG.

From my experience, they all suck. They all die out after about a year of use. The extra ~500 rs spent on Asus/Sony OEMs aren't worth it, just get Samsung or LG.

I'll recommend I've been using Multimedia Drives like LiteON, SONY and ASUS but I am very much satisfied with ASUS. Very Silent and great reading capability.

oh ya i forgot to ask!!!!! are sata DVD writers better then IDE?

No difference in performance.
However, you might want to check the no. of IDE and SATA devices your motherboard can support and decide accordingly.

Limited options as far as IDE drives go.
Given your preference of reliability over performance, I'd recommend a LG drive among what's available.

Samsung. My Lite-On had died exactly one year of usage and my Samsung has been going strong for like almost close to 18 months now. I have to go with damn's statement as they all eventually wear out and die an unpredictable death.

+1 for old LG IDE writers, they were the best.

My H10N bought in 2006 is still going strong. Still makes that fresh-out-of-the-box solid humming sound without any clanks and snaps :).

Go for LG IDE H44N drive. I'm using one from the past 3+ years burnt around 500-600DvDs (didn't keep a track on the number of CD's) and still no problems whatsoever.
My friends SONY, Lite-On, Samsung all died within a year span. My LG drive is quieter than them too.

Sorry to hijack the thread a little, but did not want to start an entire new thread for myself.

Anyone has any experience with the SONY DRU-870S 24X DVD-RW ? I have seen a few descent reviews, but anyone here has any personal experience with this drive ? My DVD-RW (which i kept flawless for the last 2 years) just crapped out, not reading any DVDs. So need a replacement ASAP.
