hey guys what is the best gaming laptop

my budget is around 50-60k

can spend more if needed

thanks for the comments

Look for MSI laptops. Alternatively, you can wait for the newer sandy-bridge laptops to start selling in India.

Here are a few options that you have -

1) Dell XPS 15 with i7 2630QM, Nvidia GT 540M

2) Lenovo Y570D with i7 2620M and Nvidia GT 555M/ Y570P with 2630QM and AMD 6570M

3) Sony Vaio CB15 with i5 2410M and AMD 6630M

4) Asus N53SV with i7 2630QM and Nvidia GT540M

1) Not a great GPU for gaming - About 50-55k

2) Not yet launched (even in the US) - Should start at 45k

3) VPCCA15FG : Good choice for gaming. Skeptical about the build-quality & battery life. - Available at Rs. 54850 at Flipkart.

4) Again not very great GPU -No idea of price

Why not try the MSI GX660 or whatever sold by SMC @ 74k

It has HD5870 and i7 with 8GB RAM. Total VFM I guess and HD5870M is better.

Try asking SMC for that and I think they have it on stock.

ok thanks guys iam now making a list and the msi laptop really looks good

iam now starting to lean towards it if the price is good

Why do you guys feel Nvidia GPU's are so lame, are you going by the weired notebookcheck benchmarks ?

IMO the gaming perf. ordering goes like this : (for latest midrange mobile GPUs)

6550 = GT525M = 6630 < 6650 = GT540M < 6570 < 6750 < 6770 = GT555M

Is there any other gaming benchmark list for notebook GPU's ? Let me know. The above list does not lists GT-540M as a GPU.

That is as because this list was published previously and techpowerup does this comparison every 2-3 months. For now just compare the GPUs most identical to the list's.

its i5 not i7 :)

MSI has a 1st gen Core i5 460M, which is inferior to the CPUs on the other options that you have. And I concur with Tao, GT 540M is not a bad card at all. It can handle most games pretty well.

The VAIO CB15 you can get for around 52k (Some dealers provide 6% discount on VAIO) The CB overclocks quite well and you can extract the same performance as a GT 540M stock .

P.S. MSI has some serious build quality issues, you can check various msi owners forums to read more about the quality issues.

AFAIK no other options yet. Why not just get the XPS 15 ? Its the best value and the best overall notebook of all the options you have. :)

But the GPU is shit for gaming right? Why no option of GT555 or more?

See, the GT540M is no shit. Its quite a capable card paired with a SB Quad Core CPU. Only the most demanding games like Metro 2033 are not playable at 1920x1080. Most games can be played at FHD medium settings.

The GT555 is not available with XPS 15, only XPS 17. Unfortunately XPS 17 is not sold here.

And in the price range, this is the best you can get.

If you need a high end GPU, then you will have to spend 1 lac +.
