I like to play call of duty 4, crysis, far cry 2 etc on a 19inch monitor and I am planning to buy a graphics card that remains at cooler temp.

Which is the best graphics card under rs5000?

Is wide monitor good or bad for games?

Its fine and the graphic card for your budget is the sapphire HD4670. Crysis might not be playable on that but other games are.

It can actually handle Crysis quite well although not at the best settings !

It's a really good mid-range gfx card that also is VFM.

if you have a good psu with a pci express connector and only concern about raw gaming muscle and not concern about the power saving, cooling factor go for 9600gt. I saw a go for palit 9600gt from theitwares-rahul at here in dealer section which comes around few hundred bucks more than a 4670. You may consider that.

I recently got a sapphire 4670 and send it for rma - getting vpu error in games n banchmarking test, tearing in videos.I hate crappy ati driver - nvidia driver is problem free for all the mainstream cars. Check the official forums of ati and nvidia - you will get a fair idea what I am talking about. For me ATI is for nerd who like to tweaking more than just playing n enjoying games.

From a performance perspective, the 9600GT or the G92 9600GSO 768MB.
BUT, the HD 4670 performs as close as makes no difference to the above, while consuming a lot less power, and so is the better choice.

@Amien: overall as a package - 4670 is nice n sweet , less power,less temp, hdmi, dx10.1 n all

And regarding power n temp - is that really we care while playing games few days back - its just 4770 who just created this new saga of less n power n temp -which is really a good move but still for a gamer - gaming is all that matter; rest is mostly superficial -things which are nice to know n talk n read but never realized fully.

but as you see the OP is looking for playing FPS -where a even a bit better frame rate will matter a lot.

^^^^^^ 5.5k ??? Are you sure? I am about to make a deal with Lynx for 7.1k (incl VAT + shipping ). when do you reckon these price fall will happen ? After or before DX11 era ?

Uhm, regardless of the factors you mentioned above, if the performance of 2 cards is as close as, say the difference between the 9600GT and the HD4670, and one card consumes as much power as the HD4670, it would be plain dumb to go with the other card.
Both the cards are too close in terms of performance to make any gains over the other completely insignificant. Maybe i would've sided with the 9600 in the past due to the better drivers giving it the edge, but not anymore, the new Ati drivers have improved considerably. Both Nvidia and Ati now have games that they perform better in over the other. Not to mention that the 4670 is slightly cheaper, runs cooler.
Once you factor in the price of the minimum PSU to run each of these cards, you'll see what im on about.

PS: To be honest, if you can wait for a while, just get the 4770, you'll be a lot better off.

^yup
the 4670 is the best for under 5k
but try to increase your pocket and get the 4770, its simply great :)

Get 4670 dude if you are going to continue with 19"....or 4770 will be future proof.....(not so as DX11 is around the corner)
