get a dell inspiron with i3, ATI 550v1gb, 3 gig ram, 320gb hdd and 3 years of complete care with DOS...And 8% students discount..

Bought the same for cousin and the total came to 41,360(including a usb mouse and shipping)..

Would fit in your budget and is helllluva deal..
 
How about Hp cq 717.

I think it's pretty cool for surf online and running general document software.
