Hi all,

I lost my Mobiblu DAH 1700i owing to some local electrician messing it up while trying to fix the headphone / earphone jack. Its been a while, and I have been using my PSP to listen to Music. However, I would like to buy a cheap, light and easy to use Mp3 player, with good sound quality and around 2-4 GB of storage.

Also will help if you can tell me where to get them in Mumbai (I know of Alpha and Chroma).

Here are the specs:

1. It should be small enough to fit in my pocket, and not be uncomfortable while cycling / jogging. Also it should be sturdy enough, not very fragile!

2. It should have simple functionalities like music browsing, creating play lists etc (which Ipod Shuffle doesn't).

3. It should have RMA / service center available in Mumbai (I bought my Mobiblu from JJ Mehta - and those guys refused to service it after I took it to them after 2 years).

4. It should have good sound quality (I am no sound buff, but it should not sound like crap is what I mean)

5. Price range: 4-5 K

6. Memory: 2-4 GB

7. Play time: 10 hours (ideally)

Does anyone know of any such wonder product ?

Thanks,

Mallik

i dont know...but creative has many players in the 2-4gb range...you could check them out....im pretty sure they will have a service center in mumbai too :)

hmm i would suggest cowon. but i think you should go with the creative zen flash-based players. 4/8/16 gb :D. best bang for the buck and are also expandable.

I am not sure if creative supports playlists..

Transcend is a good choice for economy mp3 players.. Good bang for the buck, but no playlists..

Philips and Cowon have playlist feature.. Try Go Gear : No great sound, since you are not a buff as you have mentioned I think it will do just fine.. Cowon slightly falls out of your range..

someone gifted me an ipod nano 4gb!!!!mated it to the mylar crossroads xbi's tht i won in the TE audio contest-sounds like heaven!!!!!:hap2: , i always thought tht the i-pod was an overhyped product, but damn it sounded better than anything i ever have heard!!!, the same mp3's tht i play on my hi-fi, my comp, never sounded so rich, so full, so awesome!!!!so here's me-a convert!!!! ,
it has a wonderful screen and coverflo is cool to use, battery life is gud too-lasts me more thn 12 hrs (rated at 24 hrs), ya i know using itunes is a mess and it really really lacks tht radio but its to gud-and if tht is the only mobile music player u use-i suggest u get the 8gb, ran out 4gb in no time!!!!!;)

Personally, I am no fan of iTunes, and iPod Nano is a little out of my budget. I looked over the web and found user reviews stating that Creative Zen V Plus (4 GB) was the best, with the features that I want. But I wanted first hand information from people here who might be using it, and other MP3 players.

Waiting for more suggestions.

Thanks!

my friend has the 4gb v-plus , the only gripe i can see is that navigation is a pain coz it has a joystick....i prefer buttons to that :P
other than that its a good player, no problems....the best part is that it syncs with wmp and uses the standard mini-usb cable(which is used by digicams as well) the so you can use it on almost any comp

Hi,

Can anyone tell me the price of Creative Zen V Plus in Mumbai at Alpha / Chroma. Also, where can I get waterproof cover for my MP3 player? Help will be appreciated

P.S. Also, if it can be provided - prices of other Creative Zen Products.

Thanks,

@ mallik_vas: You really should read wat ppl post :bleh:

@techie - I have seen that post, but Creative Zen series has quite a few MP3 players. The price quoted is not of the player I want. I was looking for prices of Creative Zen V Plus and possibly, Creative Zen Stone. The price quoted is of a Creative Zen, if you can make out the subtle difference.

:bleh:

Hmm I have a hdd based creative zen player (5 gb), its better then the IPOD 1st and second generation, in terms of audio quality, and my player does have playlist, mind you its the 1st generation zen, so later versions would have them..

Also the price quoted was for a flash based players which certainly aint the zen normal...

what do you mean by that??

all the players upto 8gigs are flash based now....and the price was quoted for the zen 4gb (the rectangular one with buttons on the right)...that was the right name
your hdd based one would be long gone from the production lines :)

the zen stone is a lot cheaper but has a really REALLY tiny screen
and the zen v-plus has a joystick for navigation and is a pain to use...my friend has one

EDIT:: i say get this one http://www.techenclave.com/reviews-and-previews/creative-zen-4gb-pmp-108100.html
i suggest to go for the zen 4gb

U can try sadisk sansa 4gb too and if u double it with ep-630 then it s a killer combo loadded with heavy base!

I went to Alpha today. Was disappointed with their collection of MP3 players. Had none of the newer models. The Creative Zen Stone was manufactured in 2007. Other stock they had also looked old. Didn't have good earphones either. Looked for Sennheiser MX 50, ATechnica and EP 630, but all in vain. They said the new stock will come after a month. I can't wait that long.

Can someone suggest some alternative shops where I can get a fair bargain?

I was thinking of going straight to the distributor, but do they sell single pieces?

Any information or suggestion will be appreciated.
