n one more thing

Does it makes any difference to have a better rpm drive for your OS.( 10k rpm like)

thanks

It very well depends on what you want to use it for - some extremely high end drives may not be suitable for regular desktop usage. You'd don't need that kind of performance/reliability on your home PC.

So I'd say, horses for races maxim would hold quite apt here.

^^difference is speed... but if you will use it via USB, it wont make a difference as that will be the bottleneck

^^ you won't get the AAKS anymore. its only AACS now. the greenpower ones.

A better alternative would be the seagate 500GB 16MB or 32MB

whats the difference between the 640AAKS abd the 640AACS??

i need one with a CM enclosure. which is better??

For enclosures AACS will be better as its supposed to run cooler than the AAKS.

which one will give higher speeds when used as a internal HDD??

whats the difference in price between the two??

AAKS is faster when used internally. Difference of ~200 Rs max i guess.

AACS not only will run cooler, but will also consume less power. IMO its a btter deal then AAKS which is faster, but in real world exp. will not make a lot of diff. If you gonna run a system 24hrs AACS is a better option, I dont know why ppl are downgrading the series a lot...

I am running a Velociraptor based system and this 10K drive is significantly faster at firing up apps or accessing data than the 7200 RPM drive it replaced. Definitely worth it as a system drive until SSDs come down in price.
