Hi,

I currently use E71. I am satisfied with the phone except that it is dying.

So I am in market for a new phone (I can wait for 6 more months if something good is coming out soon). Budget about 15k. Since I am a professional consultant, the phone should not be too jazzy looking.

I am looking fro following features:

1) Android 2.3 or above. (What is Android 4? Should I wait for it? Are there any phones that are within 15k and have android 4?)

2) Battery life should be among the best in the market (since I travel a lot).

3) Main purpose is calls and SMSes.

3) Form factor should be Thin and not heavy.

4) I need Multitasking (Playing songs while reading DOC & replying to gmail).

5) I need Productivity things (pdf, work, good screen readibility)

6) Resolution should be 800x480 atleast. (I would watch some movies on it).

7) Phone should not hang/slow down (my e71 hangs a lot).

Things I don't care about:

1) Camera/video recorders

2) Games

3) Dual/Quad core jazz

4) Text to speech and all that jazz.

Galaxy R is worth taking a look if you can extend your budget and are fine with a touchscreen qwerty keyboard (can't touchtype) meets almost all of what you asked except price

Honestly speaking, I believe a BB suits you more, except the large screen part.

Firstly, if you want battery life, forget about Android. You will curse the battery life, especially coming from an E71.

I would suggest you to go for the Nokia Lumia 710 or Samsung Omnia W. Again, the battery won't be as good.

The Galaxy R is a great phone if you can extend your budget. The battery seems to be good from what I've heard.

If productivity is the primary objective then a Windows phone does it better than any other. Only drawback is that it won't support multitasking. You can play songs and work on one other thing though.

I suggest you look at Nokia Lumia 700 (or is it 710)

Android is not a great travellers phone although could possibly be more powerful an OS than the competition. However WP7 offers most of what you ask for and is relatively smooth and less laggy when compared to Android.

How about the SE Xperia Pro?

It is currently beyond your budget at around Rs.19,000/-, but prices have fallen to this level in the last month and may fall even more over the coming months.

Large screen, Full Qwerty Keyboard, large battery, plus all your requirements (expect Budget).

If you will consider Symbian, how about the E6?

Touchscreen, keyboard, large battery, thin, etc...

On budget as well at around Rs.16,000/-

I would recommend the nokia 710. Price dropped to 15.4k in flipkart only recently, meets all your requirements and isn't very jazzy looking either.

Runs the latest iterant of windows phone 7, has good battery life and a plethora of productivity software to boot.

Not to mention, being a windows phone 7, it is the most stable and lag free substitute for iphone out there.
