Of course Amazon does international shipping, I've ordered both from US and UK Amazon to my place in mumbai without any issues in both counts! I dont know about electronics though, I bought DVD's on both instances.

By the way you know about www.20northindia.com, they are already doing what you want to do. They specialize in getting US products down to India and list all prices inclusive of Shipping + customs nonsense. Check it out.
