Android Best smartphone within 30k

I think you should elaborate a bit more on what are you looking for in the smartphone. For e.g. are you into watching a lot of movies, or do you intend to use it for office/corporate purposes like shooting emails or making worksheets, games, camera, etc. IMO one of the best smartphones out there is the Nexus 4 for approximately 25k!

Priority is like this : Apps > Google now > Net banking(paying bills) > Music > Browsing > Videos > ebooks
I really don't care about camera or graphics
because I'm never going to play games and not going to use camera much.
I thought about Nexus 4 , but it is a bit big for me ( not really sure I can keep it in my jean pocket and drive bike comfortably.)
How is the HTC One Mini? I like it but I read somewhere it's a bit laggy & slow? Is that true?[DOUBLEPOST=1380219226][/DOUBLEPOST]Is there a place where I can use & see the demo version of Nexus 4 like apple stores for iphones?

So you're basically looking for a mid-level budget smartphone. I guess the size factor is something that you'll mostly adjust to. And if you look at the Note series and some other phones too, 4.7 inch will not really be a problem. Usage wise, I doubt there's any other smartphone that comes with stock Android and works this well. Haven't really seen much of the One Mini so cannot say for sure.

If you're staying in Mumbai, there's Alfa where they have pieces but I doubt they let you take a demo. Croma and E-zone across various locations do give demo pieces, though.

Plus it's rumoured to be coming with Android 4.4. I doubt it's just a rumour since Google usually launches their OS's on the Nexus devices! Sounds good :)

yeah.. that;s why I've been waiting to check out kitkat. They'll release the update for Nexus4 right away right? I'll probably end up buying Nexus 4 .

I have nexus 4, and I drive a bike too. No problems at all. It just looks big, but it is comfortable. HTC One Mini hasn't been released in India yet. And yes it does lag. Also, if you are going android- I say go nexus. You don't need to try a demo dude. From all the android devices till now, nexus series are the only one which have got the smoothest user interface till now, thanks to project butter. The apps are mostly optimised for Nexus devices ofcourse.

Yes, Nexus 5 will prolly be announced this month. Nexus 4 will ofcourse get android 4.4 kitkat and may be, just may be nexus 3 might too. I say go for nexus 5 , wait for sometime , it will be a beast for a reasonable price.

If you want reasonable lag free experience then go for nexus only, stock and vanilla android is better than bloatwares companies put on their phones.
Also a demo piece may not lag much because there might not be many apps on it but it is usually true that later on devices start to lag when you have lots of stuff (might not be true for all phones, highly subjective).

Thanks a lot dude.. But the 5-inch screen would put me off. Will have to wait and see. It all depends on how google prices it. Would be awesome if it prices it @300$ - <400$.

Btw , who is this chick in ur avatar?? Not that I find her cute or anything .. just want to know

Naw.. If I'm going android , I have nothing other than Nexus in my mind.. Even HTC is out of my mind. Just that I'm a bit tempted to buy apple now that ios7 looks soo good. I like the white background of ios and the pleasant font & colours compared to android's black background. :D

I think you can adjust to the screen after using it for few days. But initially it is cumbersome especially if you used a small size phone before. I am a 4S user and tried using Samsung Infuse (4.5" screen) for 2-3 days and it was very uncomfortable for me, it would fit in pocket but then i having a big phone would bother me everytime so i stopped carrying it. But that is personal liking and disliking so varies.

Dude it's is not a symbian device of 2005, number of installed apps has nothing to do with lag in phones with recent hardware.

I tested my Nexus 4 - stored around 12.9gb of data ( 4 mb was remaining ) - all I got was a notification saying apps may have problems saving the settings but other than that , no lag at all. The only time it lags is when you connect it to pc and start transferring data from PC to Phone and that's understandable.

Not sure why stock android users usually complain about lag later in the phone's lifecycle. Or may be i am reading all wrong blogs and forums. Ok it does not lag.
But if lag is not an issue why does people wanting to buy a new phone have even a small question in their mind about lag of the device ? They shouldn't care right ?[DOUBLEPOST=1380603921][/DOUBLEPOST]

I was never talking about Nexus devices. I should have mentioned that.

Google will prolly price it 400$ for 16gb variant. They sell it for lowest price and don't think of their profits just because of one reason. They put their bets thinking we people will buy things from playstore and will give them profits from there. Good thinking and it's a win win for both google and us the people.

Disapointed with 5", don't be :P actually that 5" screen will have kinda very less bezels , and if we follow the rumors, the body in which that screen will be fitted will be slightly smaller than nexus 4. So it's awesome no? ;)

Ouch... I hope I'm not wasting my time here :([DOUBLEPOST=1380604204][/DOUBLEPOST]

LOL, really? go check out samsung's s3, grand , and grand quattro. Tested this on all of them. Install a big heavy game like GTA Vice city and bam opening app drawer will lag your ass off.

Haha.. I hope I can customize android to look more pleasant like ios with white background and some pleasant coloured fonts :)

I didn't really get your there. But if you are telling abt those blogs where people are saying Nexus "7" ( read it's 7 2012 edition ) is dying after some months use, then yeah that's true. Many complaints of same sort. I don't have nexus tablet so I can't comment on that.

Nexus 4 afaik has only one issue, - red light of death and I never faced that till now.

You can do whatever the hell you want with nexus or pretty much any other android device. There are roms which even gives you the same look as iOS 7 have :P but only if you like girlish shit.

I like the stock android and haven't customized much. I like what I have for now, may be later when I get bored of that I'll change it.
