hi guys...which is the best suited motherboard for an Intel 3.0 HT proc ? Dual channel memory support needed.

Any recommendations ?

sorry guys..yes it is a socket 478. this is for a friend of mine who is using it in a recording studio and he uses pyramix software ( www.merging.com ) ..the actual requirements for the same are not so high, but he has already got a P4 3.0 G Hz with HT (S478). he had an asus P4C800-E Deluxe motherboard last. What is the next best one ? could u suggest to me a medium range and a high end motherboard ? any mobos come with onboard firewire ?

P4C800 E Dlx.. the best of its kind.. next best with all the options - P4P800 E Dlx.. though i wonder if its still available, as LGA775 is the norm these days

are there no boards from intel itself or are they not worth it ? how about msi or gigabit ? just curious as the only nominees seem to be Asus boards. :)

I havent seen an Intel Original mobo with onboard firewire options :P hence i suggested Asus. Coz, mobos from MSI and gigabyte are 'phased out' soon (in India that is)

You'd rather just by a Intel 865 GBF and get a FIrewire Card. Thats on my old PC with 2.88 Ghz HT (Socket 478). Dual Channel RAM support too.

i am using P4c :) with 865GBF :( and its very good combo.

but let me advice you not to buy Intel mobo since stability is the only feature you get. nothing else....:S :S

and if he has already used Asus e800 delux :hap5: then no way he should try Intel 865GBF.

showed him ur thread..he finally agreed to try P4C800-ED one more time...buying a new one..his other board which has gone for repair will be kept as a spare once it comes back....thanks for the help folks..this forum never has failed in helping me decide what to do..

hey i would like to purchase his repaired one..

coz i am dying to overclock my 2.4c .................

let me know what price u r expecting....

but i ll be in india at december if possible then wait..........

btw good decesion to buy e800
