Well i have this old horse lying around .

Specs:

Processor: Cyrix MediaGX 200MHz (think it's equiv to a Intel Pentium)

Memory: 80MB RAM

Optical Disk Drive: 24X CD-ROM

Floppy Disk Drive: Yes

Hard Disk Drive: 4 GB

Communications: 56Kbps Modem

Audio: On-Board (speakers are built into the casing)

Graphics: On-Board

Back Ports:

1 X Speaker/Headphone out

1 X Microphone in

1 X game port

1 X VGA port

1 X PS/2 Mouse port

1 X PS/2 Keyboard port

1 X Parallel port

1 X Serial port

NOTE: NO USB PORTS and NIC.

i havent tried to install XP or 2000 yet . But i guess it will go smooth . How abt Linux Distro ?

Guys suggest me the best way to use of this old Horse ? :hap2:

i would suggest to donate it! there are many poor souls out there who cannot afford to buy a comp. u'll bring joy to their lives even if its a worn out old comp.
 
yeah.. right said.. its of no use in current situation.. it cant run any latest os or aplication.. if you are still planning to use it, my dear.. u are wasting our precious electricity... please try to save it...
 
Sorry for hackin ur thread, but the ques is damn close:

hey.. iv got a similar speced comp.. actually a lil better : a p3 450mhz+ 128mb ram an 20gb hdd.. i wanted to use it as a download rig but it doesnt hav a network port or a usb port to attach to the moden.. then i bought a network interface card .. but the comp would regularly hang/ restart for no particular reason. Do u think it could be the smps at fault.. cause i had a similar problem when i tried attachin a usb port..
 
Put Ubuntu into it and run it as a torrentbox / download rig.

Otherwise donate it to an NGO.
