CPU/Mobo Better Overclock Combo

2140 should be fine,and if you want to overclock with good cooling do get better RAM too,preferably with 800mhz 4-4-4-12 timings.
abit ip35-e and biostar p35 mobo are both good mobos,only problem with the abit mobo is the dual boot which has to be fixed using a modified bios and no raid options.
otherwise its a nice mobo with simple overcloking options and i have got my 2140 up to 2.8G on stock cooling and stock volts,using 667mhz transcend ram oce'd to 700mhz and with better cooling it should hit 3.0G 24/7 easily.

ok firstly, the difference between a 2140 and a 2160 is neglegible when u come to overclocking.. so it better to pik up the lower priced chip with the ip35 board and be sure to pick up some insane cooling... no point to overclock on stock coolers... it wont give good results at all cuz intel HSFs are really crappy.

Out of those- option 3 (Abit+2140) is a no-brainer for sustained OC at fairly high clocks(though doesn't imply that the Biostar mobo is bad). 
All new batches of 2140 and 2160 more or less do the same max clocks and even if different, the max safe OC for 24x7 use is gonna be the same.
So the cheaper chip is the no brainer.
E2140 was 2400/- odd and E2160 was 3.2K odd quite sometime back (in Mumbai)- any idea how much it is now?
Plus the 2140 is phased out now and 2160 is the base bagain chip i think- so time to grab a new E2140 if found.
What are the main tasks you use your pc for- buster??

dunno if you can get decent cooling in 1k 
thermalright ultra-90 is 1.4k without a fan....u have to add your own fan

^^cost difference is 200bucks/GB so if u get 2 gb that saves 400

if you want to purchase your rig in march,don't purchase anything right now.with the pace that the hardware industry moves, you will have a better deal in a month's time.

Well... 2140 is still avaialable.. Enquired with 4 of 'em... But its gettin outta stock pretty soon... :S
I think d best option'd be a 2140 + IP35E + a TR Ultima 90 + Sythe 90s
