Just got Darky's 6600GT.Clocked it straight to 525/1.03 from 500/900.Cool blue LED.Haven't tested the limits yet but the card rocks!
Stay tuned for a comprehensive review. :cool2:

What r the idle/load temperatures like? My xfx idles at 55 and goes to 80 under load. I'm sure this hsf shud do better ;)

ya me too waiting for benchies cause i got the same card... :bleh:
anyways i`m running the card at 540/1100 mhz right. now.... no artifacts atall in doom3, cold fear and first to fight..
my idle stays at around 58C.. at full load its at around 67C-70C..
and ya its got a copper heatsink + copper ram sinks.. + a cool blue led which is why i asked funky to get me blue led fans from AU.. lol

btw do you intend to use AS5 for the heatsink?? i mean if you get hold of As5??

Mine idles at 63c probably coz the room is hot but even on gaming it never exceeds 70c.So the temps are good enough for now.
Ran at 525/1.03 ghz and 3dmark'03 is 7718.But remember that I have only a TBRED-B@2ghz(11x182) so that affects the score somewhat.
Will have a review by tomorrow.

^^Yep, that's correct. But you have to take into account its effect on the overall case temp too, right ?

I'm curious to see what effect memory overclock has on the overall performance w.r.t 6600GT !

Did 3 runs of 3dmark'05 standard settings + 4xaa.Score:2809.temp reached 76c but after that I opened the pci-slot covers above and below the card and it never reached above 71c.
This is in a very hot room w/o ac.With ac the temp never exceeds 67c.And ran the card at 525/1.05ghz.This is one card that I will be satisfied with even a 5% overclock!

All games NFSU:2 ,DOOM3,RIDDICK work well at all high,4xaa+some af.Only problem I have encountered so far is a lock-up on my cracked emporio HL2 (not exactly lock-up but system couldn't be recovered, the cursor would still blink so the system didn't hang for sure) but thats to be expected with an old, never updated copy of the game!Hehe..

The threshold temp. is 145c so I guess even 80-90c is not too much.
Yup, 80 - 90C may be okay for the gpu but what about the conducted heat.?? this hot air passes over the other small smd components and memory chips. it is these small components and the memory chips which are mainly responsible for artifacts etc....
Getting a cheap Customised cooler such as the Zalman one or better yet making ur own DIY one will not hurt. The AXP cpu h/s works very well, using simple cable ties through the h/s holes on the card holds the AXP H/S nicely over the gpu.you can install a fan of ur choice on the H/s.
only drawback being you may loose 2 pci slots.

Anyway guyz this a BFG for sure.Even Darky's doubts about the heatsink being painted Al are misplaced coz the card's weight gives away the fact that the cooler is Pure Cu,my friend's XFX 6600GT is quite light by comparison.
Deejay:Just after opening the pci-slot covers above and below the card ,the temps only reach 72c max under gaming, that is not bad for a 6600gt.
I have a self-made card cooler for the back of the card but its not too elegant and unless I run into any heat issue I won't be using it.
Herez what *might* be achieved with this card:

But for now 526/1058 is enough for me. :cool2: As these are the close to the BFG OC's defaults.(a lil higher actually)

Woohaaa!!!!Its a BFG!!!Guess what? Since u people insisted-I tried the "detect optimal frequencies" option and it found those as 571/1.04ghz!I don't like to heat up the core so backed to 554/1.04 anf then pushed the memory up...554/1.06 pass,554/1.08 pass,554/1.11 pass,554/1.12 pass,554/1.13 pass!I decided to go no further and leaving a headroom of 20-40mhz from top frequecy is always healthy in the long run.
New 3DMark'05 score:3738!

DARK:Where did you find out that the card was made by 'Global Connexxions'?B'coz
the card's bios has no 'subvendor' id string at all!(which is the reason it must be a BFG)Just curious...
