Graphic Cards Big 6600gt

Okay. But never heard of 'Global Connexions' and google shows no info on it.
Must be the name of BFG fab/oem unit. :D
And btw does enabling "reflect all" in water settings extract a high performance penalty in HL2?
Coz when I enable that option along with all high,4xaa+8xaf,the game runs slowly at 20-30 fps but on toning it down to "reflect world" its runs uber smooth 35-65 fps.

yes..... showing the water effects does slow down the game somewhat.... If you feel that it is unplayable at "Reflect Water" settings, then try reducing the resoltuion or if you want disable the "reflect Water" setting

at what resolution is that BTW?

1024x768,all high ,4X AA,8X AF.Its very smooth until I enable "Reflect All".
Also doom3,1152x864,2XQ AA+8AF and it never dips below 35fps even when there are 4 demons spewing fire-balls on screen! With 4XAA+8AF it never dips below 28fps.Avg. fps is about 50-60 at both these settings however its the minimum fps that according to me are the best judge of playability. :cool2:

It dosent seem to make too much difference on my system. But that may be bcoz of the CPU. I will post the benchmark results with reflect all and reflect world.

Yeah I know a Tbred-B @2Ghz doesn't win any awards these days. But since I am not going to be usign this system for much longer ,getting a whole new setup is not worth the hassle.Till then its enough for my little bro!Coz when I come back after 12 months for vacations I'll bring along a few goodies(hehe) as well.
PS: Its not original HL2 anyway but the emoprio release which is a bit suspect so all the updates made for increasing performance and removing stuttering from valve are missing.Source engine build is:2187.

hl2 is quite smooth at 1280x960 4xaa 8xaf, medium textures, reflect world.
1280x960 2xaa is silky, never below 40 even in firefights.
It's only at high textures that it starts stuttering, needing upwards of 768mb.

hl2 isn't much demanding. The first time I finished the game, it was on a radeon 8500 at 1280x960 0xaa 8xaf and it ran very good.

d3 performance is same between 1152x864 2xaa and 1280x960 2xaa.
~55fps in the timedemo.
Medium textures ofcourse, high needs more memory.

Farcry runs smooth at 1280x960 2xq aa, high textures; around 40-80 fps.
Stutters quite a bit if I play it after playing many random d3 levels, but otherwise minimal stuttering only when entering new areas.

Well with the 1.3 patch in Far Cry,here is what I find the best setting:
1024x768,everything except textures to very high, texture to high(very high causes some jerks),aa to medium in game,af to 2 or 4 in game.Still at this setting the peak charge comes to around 700-750mb! ;)

undertaker i need a favour from u.
u posted before that the 9800pro is available for 7500rs in delhi. can u please check the distributors of those cards. also tell me which brand was it.
i am interested in purchasing the cards for my cafe, so let me know asap.

stormblast: Please visit npithub.com and see the details(Simple Marketing). If you can get the dealer to courier it you it would be best.
I would have gone to NP and checked the cards myself for you but thing is with my visa appointment approaching,I'm too busy to go to NP b4 12th.If you can wait till then I will personally inspect the card and tell you.(I have to go there anyway to collect my DVD-ROM).Let me know.

Okay the limits for the card are 580/1134 a bit low but not too disappointing I guess.
Even on the BFG 6600GT OC,one reviewer got 545/1090 on a sample where as another site got a whopping 590/1250 on another one.So my results are average.
And finally,it is BFG beyond all doubt coz the BIOS string is the same as on the latest BFG 6600gt cards-5.43.02.41 and when I opened up the BFG BIOS using Nibitor,I found the sub-vendor ID field blank just as in this card.Only difference is that the BFG defaults to 525/525 where this one defaults to 525/450.

Did you try flashing to the gainward bios? Might increase your clocks a bit.

No,not interested man.Running it at 554/1.11 w/o problems(according to my rule of (max)-(20 or 30) mhz for stable ocs).I once had a bad flash on the 5700LE and still remember the horror of trying to type commands on a blank screen over and over (tooka total of 2 hours!) until I got the card fit and fine again. :ohyeah:
So been there, done that when it comes to video-card overclocking. My experience:Unless you stand to gain too much(upto 20% or more) its aint worth the hassle.Use coolbits and be happy. :cool2:
PS:The Gainward uses a custom bios with a max voltage of 1.5v in 3D-mode,so it will improve the core overclock which ain't the bottleneck on the 6600Gt anyway.1134 mhz ain't bad for 2ns ram,and increasing the memory overclock can be done by increasing latencies which is a very messy affair with little or no benefits.Higher latencies for 40-50mhz extra won't necessarily improve performance and may even decrease it.

Hehe you should have just used a PCI card to boot :). Simple way out instead of having to type on a blank screen :D.

Had none at hand.
Anyway, the max. 3dmark score for this card is 3830 @ 580/1134.Quite good considering that my rig is quite dated now.
At 554/1.11 it does 3703.Thats still kicking 9800XT ass big time and in 6800 NU league. :cool2:
With 4XAA it does,2860 so all that about 9800's bandwidth advantage is bs,coz thats what the 9800 does w/o aa.
