THE PAIN JUST KEEPS coming for Nvidia, this time in the partner space. Two of their key 'alpha' partners have just defected.

It is nearly impossible to make money selling Nvidia cards right now, NV squeezed partners margins too much, and when the going got rough, prioritised its own margins over partner survival. This gave partners the choice of popping like a zit financially or moving to less green pastures.

Like Gainward before them, two of the largest ones, XFX and EVGA have defected. Want to bet Nvidia doesn't know yet? In any case, partners leaving a company like rats leaving a sinking ship is never a good sign, lets see what happens in the coming months when the pain really piles on at NV.

The really interesting part is who they defected to, and it isn't ATI. Paperwork has been signed though, and it is a done deal.

that means EVGA & XFX will stop selling nVIDIA cards?

I dont think so, They will probably still sell nVidia cards, but they wont remain an exclusive nVidia card maker. They will start making cards with non-nvidia chips.

LOL.. Now its turn of AIB partners to give another low blow to NV.:rofl:
The really intresting is who they defected to, i guess if not ATI, then who other than big maama-- Larrabee..

**Yawn**

Intel Larabee it is.

And INQ is as usual blowing things up a little bit. It means the two partners will no longer be exclusive nVidia, and may start looking to diversify to other chipset suppliers for Graphics and Motherboards. That only leaves Zotac as the nV exclusive.

I'm not sure it's a source of worry for nVidia, or a signal towards their demise. When Dell started selling AMDs everybody said it was the end for Intel. Anyone old enough will remember how much AMD needed to break into tier one suppliers. Gateway was first, Dell nearly a year later.

If anything, Intel will have to work really hard to make Larabee compete with the finest from ATI and nVidia. I've seen the kind of driver support Intel gives to their motherboard graphics (G965, anyone? The shader support that never came?), and I'm staying far, far away from Larabee till I'm convinced it's delivering its full feature set from day one.

Yep! Zotac & Leadtek will remain Exclusive, but if they too follow Gainward, Palit, & now expected XFX & eVGA, then i think nobody is going to prevent NV from Sinking..
I hope this isn't so..:D:

Inquirer is so Anti nVidia these days and expect nothing but anti nV news after "that" incident.

What had charlie said earlier & now, all came out to be TRUE..
There was nothing BS in all
his articles..:D:

Just curious here, could you elaborate on this "incident"?

This is BS, especially knowing where its coming from lol.

I dont think so, I was expecting something of the kind sooner than later. Even if the current source is unreliable and this is fake news, it probably still gonna happen soon.

Its diffucult for any company to remain an exclusive seller and still operate as profitably as they would like. It would have been fine as long as nVidia had the edge and remained competitive, but with nVidia facing severe competition and reducing prices even though they cannot, the AIB's are sure going to have the impact of the same, how long can nVidia protect the AIB's when their own profitability is being threatened in the market.

Deflecting from being nVidia exclusive sellers makes perfect business sense in my opinion.

I think he is refereing to the fist fight championship that happened between the nVidia corporate and INQ. :ohyeah:

Though this was expected from some partners after rough treatment they got from Nvidia with the whole GT200 pricing fiasco, its still little hard to digest that eVGA will defect. I still think its unlikely. But if they do, boy o boy, good times ahead with real lifetime warranty and step up on ATI cards :D

^^^ I wouldn't be so optimistic; even if EVGA does start selling DAAMIT stuff, they may not extend current policies to those products.

And what makes u think so.

^^ Why should they remain one vendor loyalist, they are basically losing sales to AMD chipsets, and everyone at present is opting for AMD given their price:performance advantage...

And yeah what scared the shit out of everyone was that 200 M USD, reserve NV created suddenly for warranty issues..

if EVGA & XFX will be partneing ATI

then profit for EVGA & XFX will be even more ............as there are no much BIG names of ATI partners ..................they are few....but not as EVGA,XFX

This news is surely not BS as many here feel so .. saw the same news @ many other sites.

Secondly with DAMMIT doing so well in chipset and discrete gfx business it seems logical for XFX/EVGA to diversify.

IMO what has really caused this is cause the Intel chipsets are doing great in da enthusiast domain .. at the entry level you and for the fence sitters you have DAMMIT.

Nvidia is trying to fight both Intel and DAMMIT simultaneously and their products are not managing to win against either of them, Nvidia's doesn't have a strategy / direction regarding what they want to achieve.

The discrete gfx business is currently in DAMMIT's favour .. I dont want to start another GTX260 v/s HD4870 discussion .. but the 4850 / 4870 launch has been a master stroke from DAMMIT, which meant Nvidia had to cut their (and AIB partners) profits.

I would disagree
Sapphire = XFX
Diamond = EVGA
PowerColor = Leadtek
VisionTek = Zotac
HIS = Sparkle

HIS, Powercolor and Sapphire have been in the market long before XFX came in and they were very popular brands too. Ofcourse EVGA is a gem of a brand of for nVidia, but still its sort of incorrect to say that ATi does not have well recognized brand names.
