Depends on your riding habits and sitting posture.

As per the requirement of OP i.e. 100kms, I would consider it as 50 km up and 50 km down. In this case you can go for Pulsar 180 (I have one and 50 km up and 50 km down was my usual schedule while commuting for work), Pulsar has a better build, strong and sturdy even at speed around 110+, best can be serviced or fixed at any local auto shop being a Bajaj.

You can also look for Avenger but it is not a good bike to ride in city traffic. If you can extend your budget to around 85k to 1L go for Bullet Electra 5S or TB

ops... posted reply to wrong thread... this reply was for bike for 75k thread..

mods..plz move if possible....i dont know how to do that ??

I've read a lot of complaints on pulsar owners complaining about back aches after long rides.
Has that been rectified with the newer models ???
No they have not!

see the new Pulsar 200
I Dont think there is a Pulsar 200 anymore! atleast for the time being.

I recommend you go for the FZ cause its really comfortable!

What kind of roads will u be travelling on?
Also you should try getting a used diesel car as someone suggested! but keep in mind the costs besides the fuel which the car would entail!

Sato u r "the" first person in my life to recommend something over bullet even after owning on of these beauties ..... :O

i know.. even for me, bullet is a class apart :) .... i Still own it (dint have the heart to sell it off) but daily 30km city driving on the bullet had become a headache for me (thanx to the ever increasing traffic :( and rising petrol prices) ...Plus the expensive regular service and maintenance....Hence the pulsar took away its value for me... And Im very very happy riding the pulsar... The no-tension road-scorcher :)

And talking about highway driving, i once drove my friend's Avenger while going to college (35km highway) --- Seemed like a Sofa on wheels :) ....and hence the bullet has become a vintage for me :P lying under the shed gathering dust...

bullet FTW. You can ride on it for days.
Avenger is comfortable but yet I am not that much confident on it as i have seen many a pieces just skidding on slippery surfaces or when breaking hard.
If you need economy then Honda Unicorn. Much more comfortable and there is hardly any pressure on your shoulders or arms or hands. Smoothest engine. I have gone on long rides with my friends who had pulsars and I was totally painless at the end of the rides of around 160-200 kms. They crashed right into the bed after that while i fetched them food and supplies ;) for the night.

^You need to know how to brake properly with avenger, i always use the disc in the wet surface and afaik many don't maintain the proper tyre pressure in the bike (they keep the default psi of 30F and 35R or is that 25 and 35 for normal bikes), it is 21 Front and 21 rear for the avenger and 25 rear with pillion. Hard rear braking in the avenger will let you down. I don't have much experience with bikes when it comes to hard braking, but i have done a lot with avenger and only once i have kissed the Tarmac thanks to the wrong pressure in the tyres.

But yeah the sofa seat rocks and if you have anyone in the rear you can even lean on them :P

long distance = unicorn FTW!!

You can also consider the FZ-16, as it has a relative laid back seating, the RTR has a more aggressive riding position, hence not advisable for long distance commuting..
If you're worried about performance difference between the unicorn n FZ-16, they're almost on par.. with similar top end, and relatively quicker acceleration on the FZ.. if looks are a must, then FZ all the way.. the avg mileage on the unicorn will be higher compared to the FZ. Do not consider the Pulsar, karizma etc as they're no way as comfortable as the Unicorn or the FZ~

FZ16 if u want looks (i think its the best lookin naked bike)
pulsar 220 if peformance oriented
but considering your long commute...a cruiser style can be thought coz sprt bike styling= sporty stance= look good but bad for back if ridden long
i wouls say nothing compares to the image of a bullet and the newer ones like tbts dont require THAT amount of maintence but yeah, comparitively, they require more care and yes...it streaching ur budget too far...
an avenger( i think they got it in 200 now) can be considered but it looks just a lil dated now....y dont u reseach nome new entrants from established stables like honda, her honda, bajaj and tvs...coz im sure they have some lined up..

I would strictly recommend NOT to go for Pulsar 220..

-Low mileage

-Decelerates very hard :@

So, currently i rate Pulsar 200 DTSi as the best performance bike.

And i took a test drive of new pulsar 180: 2009 and found it the best VFM :) (Comfort, performance, mileage, looks)

@OP: Please do take a test drive of the 2-3 recommended bikes before finalizing your decision.

EDIT: Damn, i just noticed there is NO input from OP... :@ NOT even telling us whether he needs for mostly highway driving or city driving.. ZzZz he isnt bothered, MODS please close this thread as i doubt its helping anyone..
