That's good. Hopefully we'll start seeing some decent warranty policies for the red cards :).

Out of the blue... Into the Red.

So nVidia "IS" having a tough time,?

Damn why do i feel a lil happy about it :D

ati and nvidia are holging each others throat too tight ...we may see more such awesome news in future.....:gunsmile:

^^ ya......:S...weird though...but ATi is right @ its place....can't betray the partners that stood by its side tru thick n thin....:cool2:...

well EVGA most reputed brand for GPU'S
coOl ............now EVGA is also loosing it's faith on NVIDIA .

EVGA will only loose their exclusvity........but ATI more profit .

it's then GREEN to RED ........imagine EVGA in RED:cursing:

The article doesn't explicitly states that the deal has been undone, it would really help sales for ATI big time, evga has a huge customer base in US and imagining Step Up's for ATI cards would have been so awesome! And one of the reasons for said move might have been so many ati threads in evga forums.

This would have been the biggest thing happening after bread and butter for ATI, but if ATI did let this go, it would be a really sad move.

Well, I would love to see eVGA, or for that matter eVGA like, board partner with ATI. But if they have indeed refused the eVGA offer, that's their decision. and I believe they are right if they are showing faith in their partners.

EVGA, XFX, BFG... all are big brands against whom ATI's partners like VisionTek, HIS or Diamond stand no chance as far as economics of scale is concerned. eVGA will probably crush these small partners and ATI is doing right thing in protecting them because they have shown that they can stand up for the company when it's in dumps

Moreover, the point is very simple: If it ain't broke, why fix it. ATI has covered the market pretty ok. Fine, its channel is not as powerful or as fancy as that of Nvidia, it seems pretty ok. Those who need a brand name can always go for Asus or Saphire. Then Gigabyte is there. HIS makes some cool cards. Palit with their huge assembly lines are there. And now Force3D has joined the ranks and they are the same company that makes Inno3D cards for Nvidia.

That is a valid point but its all business, I do know that probably eVga would crush the companies and ati standing with them is a bold move, but ATI at this time needs a company like eVga to push sales, some may not agree, but a lot of people in US like to get cards from eVga even if the performance of a like wise card from ATI is a little better. The step up program at least gives people an option to upgrade if something new comes up within 90 days, and seeing the trend in gfx industry this has been happening a lot these days.

I'm myself a fan of eVga, I have seen almost all aspects of service from them i.e. rma/step up/ cust care etc. And it does stand out from all other companies. For instance yesterday, I was supposed to get 150evga bucks for the 280 reimbursement program, and 780i FTW just came in stock, I send the marketing rep a email and within 15mins I had the bucks in my account and I could go ahead with the purchase before the board went out of stock again. So in essence, if ATI would have made eVga a partner, their sales would have increased a lot!

Business is fine but we need to stand up for ethics too. Business all the time and all you end up with is Enron.

Of course, AMD is in bad shape and I seriously fear for their survival. But now that I have seen how they they have priced their 38XX and 48XX despite the fact that they could have easily earned $50 more per card on these two series, I sincerely wish they survive. If Deneb is what the expectations are, AMD's Spider will be a very good platform at a very decent prices.

The reason, 48XX series looks so appealing is because of the price tags they have right now, $50 more and it would have been a different story. However, I truly do respect ATI decision to stick with their loyal partners, but what I meant was that they do NEED a partner like evga for getting into a stronger position wrt to Nvidia. Its a ethically right decision, but not something that would help them financially, well whatever, these companies think 10,000 things before they make such decisions and I'm thinking there would have had been more than just ethics behind this - if it ever happened at all.
