i use sony +r's and get good burns with 1620 dunno if its that batch i bought or what

I have also been using Sony +r (media id: SONYD11)...and all of them r giving excellent burns.... I think that guide is quite useful... Tested most media with Nero CD/DVD Speed Test and Disc quality seems to give similar results to whats given on the digitalFAQ page !!

So from the list it appears that the best option available in india are the sony blanks!! Just one problem. How to know whether they are fakes or not??

Anybody wants to answer this guy's question?

I've been using Sony DVD-R for as long as I can remember, (ID: Sony16d1), so far not a single DVd has given me any problem.

But, i've not been getting good performance with it on the ps2, for movies its been excellent, though it could be my ps2 that is bad here.

You get Verbatim in Mumbai and Chennai. That's better. Heck, I'd rate MBI Pro discs as slightly better than the Sony ones, less variability. Even HP discs are excellent on the right burner.

^Lammy, next to the Tara Temple Lane. There are a couple of media vendors there on the pavement.

Thanks for the info on verbatim... I have been looking for verbatim DVDs but when I asked a few footpath vendors some 1 month back ... they laughed on me and said, "Verbatim doesnt make DVDs... kause zamane mein ho". And I said, "Bloody... thoda internet pe dekho".

Good you found those DVDs in lammy !!

Got TDK 8x -R (TTG02) and they absolutely suck on my 1650 :@ Not sure if I need a different F/W. Have burnt 3 discs so far and have got nothing but coasters :( Will be trying these on the ASUS 1608P3S (Flashed to Pio 111L) soon.

When I was testing out my BENQ 1640 and was running into problems with my experiments I started burning multisession disks so I was wasting one disk for ever 9 - 11 burns :)
Perfected my burns this way with MBI media.

Mahesh, download QSuite. Enable SolidBurn. Then retry the TTG02s. What error are you getting?

2 of the 3 were with SB enabled :( The scans are horrible - 17K+ PIF's. Once I got 17K PIF's with my first disc, tried burning another to ensure that dust didn't cause the scan. Same result. Tried with SB off and got shit spikes midway and cancelled the scan :@

Well u get these 'J' blue DVDs they use for PIRACY in PALIKA...FOR ONLY 7 bux...ROKIN!!!

BUt only for use and throw basis!!!!
