this may sound very wierd but just connected a friends blu ray player (120 v) without a conversion plug n suddenly i see smoke comin frm everywhere.....he was unaware of the conversion plug thing :scared14:

need help in gettin it fixed ... can it be repaired in a nearest samsung service centre coz i dont see this model available here or where can i get it repaired... its model : BD-P2550

we just purchased a dell 24 inch led specially to be connected to blu ray player

any help will be appreciated from the gurus :)

I guess you've fried the whole thing by applying twice the rated voltage. Try getting it repaired at a reputed place but I doubt it will cost you a lot.

I think the power section of the player is burnt. Ask the Samsung service center guys if they have a compatible replacement board which is meant for 230v.

went to the samsung service centre they said power supply of that model isnt available in any of their centres .. finally gave to a reputed mechanic he said will take a day n quote bfr installing 220 v power supply.. fingers crossed :)

Like hellgate mentioned, the power supply circuitry might have been burned. Do pay attention to the voltage ratings mentioned at the back of the device on the sticker - some may have a variable voltage input switch whereas some others may have a universal voltage input (the PS3 for instance). Equipment purchased from countries that have a 120V input will require a step-down transformer to lower the input voltage. Hope it gets fixed from the local guy!

I believe the device was sourced from abroad?

yes gannu friend got it frm canada... .. we shud have checkd the voltage sticker :( hope it gets fixed n i get a reasonable quot

Fixed it will get, may be with jugaad but how reliable it will be thats the question.
Check on ebay US and see if can get some selling the powers section PCB for that model. That would be a reliable solution.
Other than that, you can do 1 thing : open the player, check the connectors that connect the power supply section to the main BD player PCB and drive.
Then goto any electrical shop and sak them to show you the power supply for a generic BD player, check that and see if the connectors match.
