Forget BlueSoleil if you are using a generic dongle, its the worst piece of crap you can install on a computer. I had installed it on three different machines with 2 different dongles and every time, it messed up the audio drivers causing a irritating whining noise to come from the sound card after bootup just when BlueSoleil gets loaded and also made the OS unstable.

The alternative that I have successfully used is to modify the INF file for the default drivers that get bundled with Win XP and add the device id of the USB dongle in the supported list and get those drivers loaded.

It installs an audio driver for the bluetooth headset service, last i remember it was optional and you could deselect it.

Also, the problem you mentioned happens very less..i for one been using it since ages..Its crap, but compatablity and features are nice..Basically its comprehensive..

agreed on bluesoleil being crap, but we dont have much to chose for generic dongles.
we cant use all the bluetooth services by just modifying the inf file.
i have been looking for a better solution for both windows xp and vista x64 but have failed till now
