Got myself a generic USB blue tooth dongle. This one does not have any drivers bundled. usually most of these either bundle Bluesoleil or require you to download the same.

However I have problems with bluesoleil. It somehow conflicts with the audio as as soon as I boot the system and the bluesoleil service is started, I get a whining sound on form the sound card and the system stops responding properly.

So I am looking for alternative drivers to get the dongle detected and working. Are there any?

If you can do with the basic BlueTooth service, then try this workaround to install the generic bluetooth driver for the dongle.

1. Open Device Manager.
2. Right click the Bluetooth device (it should have a warning icon as no drivers have been installed for it yet.
3. Choose Update Driver.
4. Choose "Install from a list or a specific location".
5. Choose "Dont Search. I will choose the driver to install."
6. Then go to the bluetooth radio's section and select the Generic Bluetooth driver.
7. You may have to force install it.

And afair, the driver installation wizard will prompt for a few more bluetooth services which won't be installed with the drivers, just leave them like that. But now you will have the bluetooth service working and you can send / recieve files via bluetooth. I did not try out all the bluetooth services as i needed just the file transfer, but i think it did work with Nokia PC Suite too!
