Brand new linksys wag120n issue/ replacement query - plz help urgent

hello guys, just a couple of hours back bought this router. the issue is , i am not able to set the network mode to MIXED which will allow me to use B/G/N mode simultaneously as said by CC. the mode just reverts back to mixed B/G when save settings is clicked. Also tried updating FW (though it has the latest FW) resetting/power cycling router as per CC advice..

After a couple of calls to CC, they confirmed that issue is with the router and they will give me replacement and not a new one. As the router is brand new and not even half a day old i have to get replacement on the desk, right ??.

I will go to the shop tomorrow and ask new unit as replacement.

In the mean time i want to know whether such issues exist in wag12on routers or this router alone is faulty . plz reply me asap guys....

Moreover the signal quality is not even good as my old airtel given 450TC1 router in G mode. Not to mention about the N mode since it isnt working... I tried changing differnet channels, but no fruit. think i bought a bad product. i bought it only after getting positive reviews from one among the TE members. Now dont know what to do plz help guyz....
 
i do have the same router initially i had signal problem because router was place at 1 end of my house then problem became worse when i hanged it on wall but now working flawlessly as i hav fixed tray on wall n kept lil far from the wall

tell cc u want brand new n send them email to there official address

this will slove problem

n abt mixed signal do tell me as how to check ill check n get back to u as i dont know much abt settings whenever i have problem i call cc n they always helped me

contacted CC, call was escalated to higher official and he replied thay i may or may not get a refurbished unit. WTF !!!. I am telling him that i bought it only a couple of hours before and he keeps repeating the same thing... When i told him that i have been given on the desk replacement for motherboards and even processors he says that since linksys is a new company (only 2 yrs old) they have stringent policies Again WTF !!!. HE says even if i give it to the dealer he has to get it replaced through replacement centre.

DOnt know whether i will get new unit. I think its time to approach Consumer court... Guys, does the on the desk replacement apply to all electronic products or its based on the manufacturer's policy ?. plz clarify. Is there anyone who has got a new unit in such a situation ???
 
Exactly the same thing happened to me! but the modem-router was Belkin!

crap Firmware, crap hw! even crappier CC!

But all this helped me learn one thing! never to trust reviews especially modem-router ones!

What you say is absolutely correct.

Finally i came to know that the N mode doesnt work with WEP mode... It works only with WPA or WPA2... The 24/7 support for linksys is useless. These a******s dont know even this and I myself figured it out. Those dumb guys simply told there is some issue with the router and it has to be replaced. However i am using only WEP mode under G mode because the N mode isnt that compatible with my laptop...

will the same thing happen with Linksys WRT120N? I want to buy a router in this week.

I want to share Internet for following devices
My desktop (LAN cable)
Laptop Acer 5542 (with lan cable and WIFI))
Nokia 5800XM
Nokia E72

connecting 2 Laptop and desktop in LAN for CS

Is there any point in going for expensive N spec router when my mobiles will always need G network?
 
If you are a linksys fan go for WRT54G if its available. I mean the amount of hack you can do with this is amazing (DD-WRT).

If you want to spend a bit more and go for Wifi-N go for WRT 160 NL.

What kind of hacks ? Link please. I have a WRT54G. But got a WAG120N thinking it must be superior (didnt bother reading any reviews as it comes from Linksys) only to experience poor network signals now :(

Can I use WRT54G in my network as a Wifi reapter or something :P Pass me the hacks links :)
