I wanted to purchase a Brand New Macbook for myself. Would prefer buying something sealed from some distributor. Buying from the Apple Store is too expensive. Also, eBay had this offer last week, with a seller selling the old MacBook (not the unibody) for 50k. If something like that comes up, I am up for it.

But i want something where I can get a full warranty from Apple.

Can someone guide me? I am from Mumbai. Need to buy it in the coming days.

PS: If a macbook doesn't fit my budget, what is the NEXT best thing? Mind you, I want something that's blazingly quick and has a KILLER battery and some SPICY looks

It's not usual c2d chip. It's low voltage sp series chip with large 6mb L2 cache in an solidly built ultraportable and hence the cost. That 4 cell lasts over 5 hours 30 mins on this setup. U can buy 6 cell later after few months .

Yup, easily does HD playback.

And its a looker. The pic on the compusa sight does not do it any justice :P Checkout the reviews. Has aluminum display enclosure and palm rest and a magnesium alloy bottom case.

Its not perfect but its good at what it does.

Importing this through KMD will still turn out to be 13-14k cheaper than new 13 inch Macbook.

I have a Alu macbook that I wanted to sell some time back. But it is not brand new, although it has warranty till Jan 2010. I don't understand why someone would sell a brand new macbook here

Tried talking to all resellers in Mumbai ? Some of them could have the old polycarbonate models in stock!

The same $899 can get u a refurb aluminium macbook
MacBook - Apple Store (U.S.)

No discounts on old polycorbonate available here. :(

And thats 899+ tax. Comes to $980 for old c2d 2Ghz model. (NO NY tax on products ordered from Compusa or newegg ).

Ordering Macbook turns out to be same deal if you buy it locally or through KMD thanks to tax and big packaging.

Yes its not ULV, only SL and SU series are ULV chips. This SP series uses slightly lower default voltage of 1.05 compared to 1.05-1.16 of older P series. But people are reporting that this runs considerably cooler compared to P9xxxx series.

You can try education discount if its still available.

My cousin bought Aluminium Macbook pro for around 60k a month back. The polycarbonate model was for around 50k.

Totally forgot about the tax. :ashamed: There was a deal a few days ago when the old polycarbonate went for $749. Apple store shows that its out of stock now but i guess it should come back.

They had this offer in Atria Mall, which was selling the 13 inch MBP for 56 or 57, which according to me is awesome.

And dont listen to Windows Fanboys, 7 is not all that great. Sure its nice, buts its still Windows. Same registry, same viruses, same shit.

Also Mac does run MS Office, Firefox, Internet Explorer and loads of stuff. Plus they last longer, my friends MacBook purchased 4 years back, still works great. Cant say the same about my Dell, or my friends HP or the Compaqs.

I bought the MBP 13 around a 2 weeks ago for 68k ...... There was a deal last month where they had a student discount of % but that is no longer available ..... would suggest for you to get the new macbook white polycarbonate that has been lunched now ...it has a glass trackpad .....and most of the features of the MBP ....its locally available for 57 k I think ....and thats a killer deal ...if you can spare the extra ten somehow ... you get the PRO status ....backlit keys ...and a brilliant screen ....

Dont even bother looking for another comp in the price range..... i am not a big MAC fanboy....I still hve Win7 runnng on bootcam p....but i find myself not using at all ....just get the mac man ....

The hardware quality is to die for ...
