Brands with no service centres in India - avoid these

Thought we could have a list of all the brands that you can buy officially here, but lack a service centre. The problem arises when they diagnose the problem via email, approve the RMA, but you have to return the item to local seller and get refund from them, or worse ship it to another country. So their warranty is just theoretical


Thrustmaster: makes nice products, but used faulty sensors that go bad. TM support approved RMA and told me to get refund from Amazon which is a PITA


Sabrent: my 1TB NVMe suddenly stopped working. They wanted me to ship it to US for a replacement, covering shipping both ways (they could ship the replacement to a US address only). I could just buy a new one instead for that amount


So basically you buy a new product officially, pay GST, and yet don't get full consumer protection as with other brands. It would make more sense to buy grey market stuff lol. If you know any such brands with shady practises, add them below.
 
Don't buy products from sites/brands that want us to ship back their faulty products at our own cost even though the products are under warranty.

You could file a complaint in consumer forum and seek full refund plus compensation, but you need a lot of followup and patience.
 
You could also contact the Importer directly. For Gskill that is what we did since the normal RMA request would have needed sending the faulty RAM abroad. Contacting the importer enabled me to get a replacement RAM easily. It is documented elsewhere in the forum.
 
For 1 minute I was wondering why would write pita as in dad? Then my slow brain caught up to the tend of abbreviations and started guessing and came up with pain in the ass.

Any number of Chinese companies that sell gadgets in India. Simpler than what is listed in the opener. I'm talking simple gadgets here with sealed batteries that will require DIY replacement one day.

The understanding is no warranty. The seller will replace it in case of defects within the return period but after that, you're on your own.

You pays your money and takes your chances
 
This happened to me even with a new crucial RAM purchase. I ordered 2 pieces of same RAM from Amazon and they sent 1 correct and another wrong one which I could not even identify the type as the pins arrangement was totally different from laptop RAM. The return process was so difficult I left it after few attempts.

scAmazon sucks big time. They have realized if they delay the process long enough, they can wear you out and make you give up. More profit for them. Even if you persist and win, you end up waste a lot of time.
 
Avoid Amazon and flipkart for anything >=10000. Telling this as some1 who is huge buyer from these platforms but burnt fingers few times. If you return/refund costly items, they often refuse now-a-days and try to delay as much as possible.
