After my long personal research I felt BSNL & BEAM Cable are best in offering reliable high broadband speeds at very affordable rate plans in Hyderabad.
Though I was very satisfied with BSNL broadband with 2MBPS plan I wanted to try Beam Cable again after a long time to check if I am really happy with BSNL performance.
So applied for 2MBPS Beam connection and they took 7 reasonable working days to get the fibre optic cable all across to my flat to get the connection up and active.
Now its the time to do speed and performance comparison using speedtest & pingtest.net. Since results might vary time to time I took tests 3 times on each server and picked up the average result here for you.
I used equally powerful wireless routers for both my connections:
BSNL - Belkin N+ Wireless Modem Router
BEAM - Linksys N+ WRT160N Wireless Router

Apart from all these comparisons I personally observed that, BEAM has definitely an edge in better speeds and reliable performance.
BSNL PRO's & CON's
> Sometimes very high speeds upto 3-4Mbps only while accessing Indian websites/servers and so no visible lag using some local web sites.
> Can enjoy unlimited downloads during 2am-8am with auto wake up and download applications if any. Like this you can download upto 20-40GB for just as less as Rs.500 without any speed caps or extra bucks but definitely at the cost of good sleep and piece of mind.
> Seamless internet connection even when power failures using router power backup.
> Pathetic upload speeds.
> Chances of getting early age heart attacks with heavy BSNL bills. No wonder if that wasn't really yours!
> Not so organized customer service and possibly no technical support when required.
> No proper provision for online bill payment, BSNL says NO to eseva or online payment.
BEAM CABLE PRO's & CON's
> Surprisingly constant speeds around 2MBPS both at Upload and Download.
> No buffering lags while watching Youtube videos.
> Prompt Customer Service and not so bad Technical support
> Good policy to fix fibre optic junction points and quality cables for every new apartment with minimum connections.
> Slightly apparent lag in loading heavy local websites when compared to BSNL.
> No seamless internet during power failures since it fails to connect even with a router backup.
Definitely BEAM cable has a great potential to win top place among Broadband Providers in Hyderabad.
