Don't you guys think the same?

No
-better speeds
-customer services
-competitive pricing

I am really fed up with my country to be honest. There is almost NIL advancement in this sector.

I too agree. Atleast some cities like hyderabad, bangalore have good private players (Beam) whereas in Chennai its a load of crap service providers.

Mumbai is different because of 5net. But the service is highly inconsistent and crappy at times that will make your blood boil.

We want beam to be available all over India. I'm using BSNL and tell you what, it sucks.

Broadband is dead because of the greed of the operators. Need someone who is a game changer or some service which would force the operators to give better speeds (obviously at reasonable prices).

I believe Mathew Carley's Hayai could be that potential ISP which might revolutionise high-speed internet here. But in a country plagued by corruption and bad deeds everywhere, I wonder how long it might take or if it would sustain at all.

There IS no Broadband!
This is all a money making scheme by ISP's anyway :D

Its just that nobody seems to be serious about it.specially ISPs. They just launch, start good and when the base seems to grow the service goes down to the bottom of the sea.....and then another one comes along with the same promises and commitments and the story gets repeated. Its just so disgusting. TRAI should do something but then if they had done anything before then this situation wouldn't have presented itself.

Sometimes I dream of 10 MBPS unlimited or even 1 GBPS unlimited plan, really !! have to wake up in mid night and drink plenty of water.... :)

Why cant we all bombard ISP regulator body or anybody who ll listen up with emails and asking for them to act on the plans..?
i got bsnl connection in 2005 and since then it has got 2 upgrades and still no signs of unltd 1Mbps for a sub 1k budget. This really has been a long wait with no respite in sight.

We can make a concerted and a well planned effort to show the state of broadband in countries similar to India maybe? And simple example of the lack of abiliy to have a lag free vid chats with relatives abroad/ play hight resolution vids without wasting time/ live streaming of events etc should make them listen up. No need to mention movies (even legit ones) or anything related to what their pea brains will compute something equivalent to piracy.
The point of services like netflix/hulu might be used as the last nail in the coffin.

I remember a user fighting with BSNL for a 1:1 ratio on UL and DL speeds as he wasnt able to get good video conferencing done at his place for his job/business.. and BSNL relented.

Greed of the operators stopped WiMAX in its tracks. Greed of the government killed 3G (never learned from Europe).

There was one real scheme of Rajasekhar Reddy in AP that was to be implemented with Dr Raja Reddy & Carnegie-Mellon. Hi-speed network giving ~2MB/s at 100 buck per month. I thought that was just too good to be true. It turned out that way - petty politics killed that dream scheme.

Let us see what happens when Mukeshbhai kicks off his 4G service - pan-India. The rate at which the tablet (decent specced ones) prices are falling nowadays, it may happen that he will throw in a tablet with a connection (of course with address proof's this time around;)).

You forgot to add what Is there :
F.u.p
High pings
Slooooow speeds

While some might Blame the ISP for loot/Greed, I would Agree with you up to a Extent. Remaining Blame it on the Government,TRAI,DOT and the advisory bodies who favor Biggies(Recent case).

I blame 90% Folks at Telecom ministry, Trust me they are only Guys with attitude "Jo Hona Hai Ho Jaye Ga".

Hyderabad,Bangalore,Kolkata and Few Lucky Reliance members are Getting Good Broadband Speeds. RIL should also make Big Impact by End of this year!

MTNL was so good at one point with sudden increase in speeds and drop in prices but now i think they just don't care. In last year i dont think if they introduced a single good plan. Most of them with great speeds and stupid fups.
Just wait for Reliance's LTE services guys!
They have been teasing us since the auctions and i really dont see any hope.

I just hope for (and everyone else too i guess) minimum 2mbps unlimited internet plans at reasonable prices.
Sometimes i cry thinking about this :'(

Advisory bodies favor the loot by the ISPs because they get their fair share of the booty :P
