Android Broke my pixel 7 pro display on a trip abroad

Greetings,
I am in europe till mid december as part of a student exchange program, where i ended up breaking my pixel's display. There is a big crack on the screen with a white line (bottom part of the screen) but the phone is still usable. My question is will I be able to use it as it is until i come back to india as its costing almost 25000 over here to change the screen, or will the screen start getting worse and worse. I am planning to either get it fixed when I come back to india or sell it to buy a new device. Would appreciate any inputs regarding my options :(

First of all, enjoy your Europe trip :)
Second, you can keep using unless you feel that the glass is coming out. For safety, you can apply tempered glass or even a flexible shield to protect it from any further damage !

I have seen many people using phones and their screen has been cracked at multiple places !

yeah i am still using it :D, the bottom 15% of the screen still flickers every now and then but gets easily fixed when i touch the screen. I do have a screen protector installed so the glass isnt hurting and is in contact. One last thing, are grey market screens reliable?

this is the damage done.

a trusted shop nearby is charging 8500 for an OLED screen replacement. (not original)

Original might cost me around 18kish

Bad news, if the glass only is damaged, you can usually continue to use it for years. But once the pixels are damaged, it can easily get worse one day even if you handle it with care.

My experience with third-party screens has not been good, they are very fragile as they don't use gorilla glass. They don't get anywhere near as bright as the original screen. They also tank the battery life because they draw more power. How well it gets sealed also depends on the skill of the technician. I had to get a non-original screen replacement done twice and both times it lasted barely a few months before I had to get a new device entirely.

So unless you have actual first hand testimonial from someone who used this specific replacement screen, don't bother with getting it. Either get an original replacement or keep using this while you plan to get a new device.

BTW how did it crack even with that case?

dropped it from a bunk bed while sleeping and hit something metal :(
I have been using the device as it is for the last 2 months, planning on using shatterfix now. they are charging 11k with 90 days warranty. Have read good reviews about shatterfix online but as @burntwingzZz might look for some trade in options here in Europe.

In india pixel phones are not valued. Hence in second hand market as well as in repair market its a Deadhorse .In Europe i might say google support could be bit good .You might get much better value in trade-in in Europe unlike India.
