Hi ppl,

Among all the announcements, joys, high n lows... frustrations, agony... nebody noticed a plain simple clause in Home 500 plan. It says bandwidth 250Kbps to 2 Mbps with night unlimited flagged as YES :hap2: Its coming at Rs.500 pm :clap:

Now, only thing I need to know is... switching of this night unlimited thing... How BSNL manages it...? ne words of wisdom...?

Here is a quick summary of plan:

Monthly charge : Rs. 500 /- comes down to Rs. 417 /- :hap2: if you pay 5k for 1 year

Bandwidth: 256 Kbps to 2Mbps

Limits: 2.5 GB for usage during 8 am to 2 am next day

Night Unlimited: YES (during 2 am to 8 am)

Extra charge if traffic exceeds limit: 80ps per MB

Minimum hire period: 3 months

Security Deposit: NIL

Can anybody using BSNL confirm the correctness of BSNL's billing system? Do they goof up for the usage or something like it? Also, do these guys count upload figures? Hows the upload speeds?

but i had heard it BSNL and MTNL had banned torrents and they dont allow them on their network ....so if this is true...then forget torrents

is BSNL same as MTNL in mumbai..means do they have similar plans for broadband.?

cauz as soon as BSNL upgraded it's users to 2mbps so did MTNL triband...

and one of my frnd. was saying tht BSNL is same as MTNL..both only have different names in different places,, is it true ? if YES..then we may have a similar plan from MTNL triband..too !!

I am using Home 500 plan and its real Value For Money plan.....2.5Gb is good for normal browsing and durin night unlimited downloads...

@faheem :

MTNL triband has different tariff plans compared to BSNL dataone.. Specially BSNL offers night unlimited @2mbps while triband is not offering any upgrade to any unlimited plan...

Although MTNL & BSNL are both owned by the government, there is a difference in the plans offered, some of the best plans are only available for BSNL suscribers for eg the 256kbps unlimited plan is still not available for MTNL customers and now this one ... I hope someone does somethin to shake up MTNL :(

Are you sure dude? Coz even I always thought we don't have BSNL in Delhi/NCR..:ashamed:

It cant be. State owned companies don't compete with each other. BSNL and MTNL have clearly defined operating areas, mutually exclusive of each other.

Somebody should confirm that 2MBps is available @ night unlimited hrs... What if BSNL cap the speed @ 256Kbps during night unlimited time of 2am-8am.. The plan does say 256Kbps-2MBps speed.....:huh: :huh:

BSNL will charge upload towards your dl limit unless its in the unlimited period.

Or at least they used to charge uploads towards your dl limit.

thats why its called a bandwidth limit, not download limit

I'm using BSNL & really they dont goof up xtra usage
My usage used 2 stand at .999 Gb or .99x so b rest assured
Moreover one of friend uses this xtra stuff and his bills r consistent
Moreover the portal shows the usage 4 last 6 mnths so no probs if they charge u xtra u can show it u've not used it
I've made a speed testing using MySpeed Bandwidth Test, Internet Speed Test, Broadband Speed Test
dnld 1.69Mbps
up 174 kbps

@atanuroy

Thanks for quick bytes, it's great to hear that BSNL is transparent for the usage stats.

Can you please confirm that the 2Mbps bandwidth is also available during unlimited hours?

yes it is , and it should be , else what is the use of a 2mbps connection.Moreover i dont think it is exciting enough , they should have changed the night unlimited timings
