BSNL connection woes

Try raspppoe first.. Try with a different modem. If you're getting the same problem, then you should get your line checked(it should be a single telephone line going to your house, with a splitter the line should split to two) and also ask the bsnl personnel to check their dslam!

edit: looks like you got your problem solved! Congrats ;)

Troubleshoot step by step.

1) Switch to bridge mode. it lot more robust than PPPoE, specially when you have a bad line.

2) Change Modulation to G.DMT

3) Monitor SNR and Signal Attenuation.check the line state, it should be displayed somehwere in your router's web interface. post them here.

this would tell what's actually is going on.

Well the problem popped its ugly head today in G.DMT modulation too. Looks Shani is ging to get my local JTO on Shanivar as I'll be paying a visit to him tomorrow.

Second Post:

Went to BSNL exchange today and although I was fully decided to go Berserker on their a$$, I didn't as the JTO was still the same nice dude that I came to know after my past misdemeanor so this time too he was very helpful and he understood the issue, after all he is a Mallu guy from Orissa, Electrical Engineer 2030 passout ;) Now he has promised to sort this issue out and contact me if done otherwise will send the Laptopped BSNL guy to my place.

Will update u guys further on the proceedings as they happen.

Third Post:

JTO called me at around 3, told me that everything was fine at their end, i.e. from exchange to the sub station, will check the line from there on. After and hour or so, I tried to reconnect the connection using the default ADSL2+ line access method and it worked, looks like issue has been all sorted. Just want advice from u guys as to keep what as the line access method, G.DMT or the default ADSL2+?
