Hi,

Its a long story but i will cut short..

i recently changed my mobo ,ram and GPU from

MSI 790GX-G65, G. Skill 2x2Gb 1600 Mhz Ram and MSI HD4870 512MB

to Gigabyte GA-890GPA-UD3H, Corsair XMS3 2x2Gb and Sapphire HD5850

Now when i was in the process of ordering new stuff, i have a back up pc (pentium 4 :P) in which i started to use. It has got nvidia 8600Gt GPU. I was using Xp and i unistalled Ati drivers and installed Nvidia drivers and it was working fine.

Today when i received the new stuff, i assembled my system and it does nt boot. Everything in bios is fine and is on default settings and i get BSOD just after boot screen which says microsoft windows XP.

Now error says i should try updating BIOS, but have no idea how to do it without booting the PC..I even tried the safe mode but even after keeping it for 20 mins. it did not came up..I am stuck

P.S. I was using the same HDD with OS all the time

Please help !!

Put your HDD in the old Pentium with the nVidia GPU. Remove the nVidia drivers. Slot it to the new system and try.

hmm good idea.. i will try it today..

But there's one more thing, i disabled PCI GPU from Bios and enabled onboard VGA, but even that doesn't help..

^^

If you use a discrete GPU then it should be the other way round. Try with the onboard GPU first. Get it to the desktop, then try the external VGA.

Tried removing old nvidia GPU drivers, sound drivers and ATI drivers using Driver Sweeper using Old Pc..Even after that the new one doesn't boot and gives same BSOD.

Removed one Ram, 5850 GPU and Creative sound card too...Still same error

HAve tried resetting Cmos by removing battery for 2 hours..even then ithe same error

It is prompting me to update BIOS and i have absolutely no idea how to do it without booting it first :(

Please suggest what to do ( i can't even enjoy my new rig):( :( :(

Ok, will give you the basic steps, see if you can google out the rest. It is not that difficult.

1. Download the latest BIOS for your board.

2. Create a bootable USB stick using (1) as the file. HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool can help you here.

3. Get to you board BIOS and set the Boot priority such -- that it boots first from the USB.

4. If your bootable is set correct the BIOS flash should start from within DOS as soon as the system boots up.

5. System will re-start and boot normally. You might get a check sum error. Go to the BIOS and set time/date.

6. Reset the CMOS.

If you are still confused or unsure (post googling) let us know, will have to give you more detailed instructions.

EDIT:

Could not resist.
