Acer-Aspire 5738 ftw

Perfect for ur requirements:ohyeah:

U can also chk 5738z:)

Acer Aspire 5738 and 5738z are the best choices.

But if you have any apprehensions about the build quality and after sales service of Acer, buy the Dell Inspiron 15.

But the new chicklet type keyboard(similar to the one found on the Apple Macbooks and Sony VAIO P) on the Acer laptops is much, much better than the normal laptop style keyboard on the Dell laptops. Also the Acer 5738 has a great battery and integrated fingerprint scanner as well.
And the best part is that Acer has the lowest price(when compared to Dell, Compaq, HP, Lenovo).

Go for Acer.. buy an el-cheapo headset for talking.. you are not going to use it for long hours anyways. Most VFM at the moment.

Actually that will be one of the primary purposes of the LAPPY. Chatting thru a Webcam so a camera and integrated microphone was kind of priority.

But if the lappy looks good otherwise i mite overlook the microphone thing. . lets see.

I understand if the primary purpose is talking. But knowing you, I seriously doubt that it would be more than a few hours in a day.. even if that much. Moreover, with a separate mic, I feel it would be simply more comfortable to talk.. since you wouldn't be talking into the lappy. The webcam is integrated so no worries there. But for 28k, I don't think you could ask for more.

It's your call. :)

Its from my bro actually . . but i get your POV. Noted...;)

BTW one thing i wanted to know. . my bro will be going to the US eventually so is it better to purchase it from there or will be wiser to take it from INDIA only. Considering the "Financial" aspect of it only.

light weight is 14 inches not 15 inches as u think

IMO u shud get the acer 4736z!!

its around 26-27k all inclusive

suits ur needs perfectly

its a 14 incher so light weight as well

lightweight and long battery life? netbooks were made for that.

I can defiantly recommend the Samsung NC20 for ur requirements.

See my Samsung NC20 review in the reviews section.

Link in sig.

If you want, you can get an International Warranty anyway.

But as your bro is going to US, it is better to buy from US as much better configs are available there at the same price. Also ask him to buy one with an International Warranty because otherwise when he returns to India, his warranty will not be valid.

Tell him to buy it from U.S only... he'll get much better configs there and since he is going to stay there for quite some time the support is also needed.

am getting 5738z with linux for 29k and with vista home premium for 32.5k. so is the price right? m thinking of getting linux one.

^ yes if it suits ur needs well then acer 5738 is a killer deal at 29k

go get that!!

its not 5738 but 5738Z.

one more thing i saw intergrated webcam on 4736z was very very good. it can capture HD footage , so does 5738z also has same quality webcam or inferior?

Buying a laptop in USA will definitely give you better bang for your buck.

But international warranty will cost you EXTRA.

As far as buying in India is concerned, i don't think there is any option of purchasing international warranty.

I know that Dell gives Asia-Pacific warranty by default.

For Acer, you'll have to confirm.
