Okay, my dad just fell in love with the Inspiron 1420 I'd ordered for myself and now its gone

I basically don't need a laptop on a day to day basis nor do I need one for college yet (Mech Engg :p), my primary purpose is at my live gigs where I'm DJ'ing, I need a laptop to sync directly with my controller and turntables.

Not much power needed, a 1.5Ghz processor will do, RAm I'll anyway upgrade to 2GB, HDD, even a 40GB drive will do cause all my music is on a 250GB LaCie.

I don't wanna spend cause its gonna go thru a rough use and I plan a Macbook late this year.

Budget is 20k, I'm looking at this for now, any other opinions?

Products & Services - Notebooks

Cheers!

Edit : I can push the budget to max 24k if I'm getting a T2xxx.

@ andrew - Thanks mate, saw that thread :D

I would point out the Lenovo 3000 G410. I was quoted Rs. 22,000 for that in Nehru Place, New Delhi.

1.86 GHZ Celeron - 64-Bit
40 GB Hard Disk
512 MB DDR2 RAM
CD/DVD Writer (Dual Layer support)
Looks like a brick and has 14.1 inch screen.

I'm planning to buy it in the comming month provided the Compaq v3225 AU with AMD turns out to be a single core lappy and not dual-core as has been told to me.

Oye beech dont reply in the other thread so im asking again! Wats the config on the 1420 you got? and price!

Oops! Actually the Hard Disk is 80 GB. :ashamed:

Anish, get another 1420 man - I had seen a bunch of notebooks before getting the Inspiron and the build quality/finish of the Dell surpassed all others. Just a reminder, because I'm sure you know that :)

Yep, the Inspiron I just got is magnificent in terms of finish! Reason I'm going on a very tight budget is so that I can pickup a Macbook for myself by Christmas :D
