Hi all,

I want to build a rig with high end configuration. My purpose to build that rig is to prototyping the models I've created with Autodesk Inventor 2013 and simulate them using Autodesk Simulator, and see how they work. I would like to know about the Intel Extreme edition i7 Processors and boards.

Thanks a lot!

Hi makeiteasy welcome to TE.

Since your needs are very specific - usage for Autodesk Inventor & Simulator (machine design & simulation). It would help us very much to also let us know your usage pattern:
1] How may hours of usage per day/week.
2] How long does your simulation tasks take (think of the maximum & worse case scenarios where your system will be running non-stop).
3] Where are you from ..... city/town [to enable us to suggest local vendors]. It is good to know that you are open to online purchase (there are many wonderful options & all of whom are reliable too)

We need this information because to build a system which can handle stress sufficiently, you will have to chose "quality components" that will survive the rigors of your work.

To start with this is what I would recommend
Power Supply : Seasonic 620W POWER SUPPLY 80+ BRONZE (S12II-620) ....... Rs 5120/- [This brand is the best..... do not ever think of Mercury, iBall, Zebronics, VIP ever ]
SeaSonic S12II 620 Bronze 620W ATX12V V2.3 / EPS 12V V2.91 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws X Theitdepot - G.skill Ripjaws X 8GB (1 X 8GB) DDR3 1600MHz Desktop RAM (F3-12800CL10S-8GBXL) (3380 x 2 = 6760)
Look out for G.Skill Ripjaws Z series
Again G.Skill is the best & far superior than Transcend

Rest we shall see as you provide us with further details that I spoke of.

Cheers
Terry

Dear Terry,
here's the answers for your questions.

1] How may hours of usage per day/week.

My usage per day will nearly 8-12 Hours in the process of Designing and Assembling parts

2] How long does your simulation tasks take (think of the maximum & worse case scenarios where your system will be running non-stop).

It Depends upon what was I Designed. If the Machinery is very simple then the time consumption will be less.
If the machinery is a large one like an injection molding machine then it would be take more time to simulate.

3] Where are you from ..... city/town [to enable us to suggest local vendors].
and am from coimbatore, tamilnadu.

I've been using transcend for the past 5-8 years and the product has life time warranty. it gives me good performance and result. But I'd ever tried a G.Skill ripjaws. All of you suggesting ripjaws means, something would be there. So I made the decision to buy ripjaws. Thanks for the Post.

Cheers!

Yes your suggestion is good but i want to hear about the i7 series only.

So Please suggest me in the i7 series. dont consider the budget. I want to build the best

Thank you alpha17
